Don't be connected to the internet when you delete them, and don't connect to it again afterwards. Apart from that stupid idea, I don't think there is.

it's funny, I used to complain that my XDA *wouldn't* do this, I guess you can't please everyone, unless of course you actually put the option in a menu and let them choose...
One day, there'll be a phone/pda/gps/im/sms/mms/e-mail/fashion accessory/digital music player/mobile gaming platform/can't think of anymore uber device that has 300 billion trillion options, everyone will be happy, and we'll all have massive headaches from trying to work out how to make it work!
SEP800 was a gnat's cock away from it, maybe the next firmware will be better...
