Is the earphone socket a standard 2.5mm socket? |

I was just looking through a catalogue of electrical store in my city & they sell 2.5mm stereo plug > 3.5mm stereo socket. Has anyone tried this type of adapter? It might be useful so I can listen to my MP3s & Oggs with my Sony or Sennheiser headphones. Its only a couple of bucks, might just go out & grab one this afternoon.

yes it works... but you lose handsfree functionality since 3rd party stereo headsets don't have a mic. |

That's fine. I assumed that. My old Sony headphones just fit my ears better & my Sennheiser headphones are much better quality, I suppose I'll just have to unplug them to take a call. Cheers.

I'm assuming that the following would do the job just fine....
Product FA94C
at www.maplin.co.uk
No mic but much better sound quality.

I use my Sony earphones with my P800 - amazing sound for the MP3s and I use the HBH-60 Bluetooth headset for calls.

Thanks Zahg,
Unfortunately its a bit academic I'm on the phone right now asking Orange to take the P800 back 'cos I still can't reliably answer calls with my Motorola BT headset: after buying the phone I'm not going to spend another £100 just to by a sony headset that does work.
