From the beginning I've assumed that you cannot remove the Memory Stick Duo while the P800 is on, but am I correct? I thought to myself that it would be easier if the MSD could be removed while on, but I just re-read the section in the User Guide about the MSD & it makes no mention of turning it on or off before inserting or removing MSDs. I'm not game enough to try it myself but I was wondering if other people change their MSDs while their P800 is still on. [addsig]

You should close programs running from or reading from the msuo first.
I got a system failure when taking out the msduo when running some program from the msduo.

If it's only songs etc. on your Duo you can remove it whenever.

If you have apps installed on the duo it's safer to remove it when the phone is off. The device will crash if it is removed with those apps running.

No it won't.

I have Opera installed on my MSD, and all it does is crash Opera.

That's what I meant, it will crash the app you are running from the duo.

Some people keep all of their additional apps on the duo so for them it's safer to remove it with the phone off.

If you only use the MSD for file storage, then you can remove it at any time... as long as you're not accessing one of the files on the stick at the time of removal.

I have had some errors while removing the msd when phone is on. If i remove and reinsert evrything is fine. What i did once was remove my 128Mb MSD once and used my Mem stick reader to have a video clip copied to the MSD. Finished copying and reinserted back into p800, found no video. Plugged the msd into pc again, found my video directory had filled with loads of unreadable folders and files. Clicked on properties of this folder and found 38GB of data!! I couldn't delete the files so had to to do a full format of the msd... So beware...
