HPM 10 - MMC problem |
crAss Joined: Jan 30, 2003 Posts: 14 PM |
I was jogging listening to music from the HPM 10 connected on a T39m. After about half an hour the music stopped and there was a message on the screen of my mobile saying
FILE SYSTEM ERROR
When I got back home I tried to format the MMC card but failed.
In win98 the card wasn't recognised or it was recognised for just a few seconds and then again lost (windows almost froze with the card in the reader). In winxp same thing happened, everything froze as soon as I put the MMC card in the reader.
I use the card and the reader that came with the HPM 10.
Is my card dead???
I want to format it but I can't.
Can anyone help?
Any suggestions are more than welcomed.
Thanx

Well you are wrong about the software...
It works like a charm in winxp BUT
1. You got to download the beta drivers from the reader/writer manufacturer's website
2. Most importantly to have installed SP1a...Microsoft corrected the bug that gave all those blue screens in XP.
Well you think it is the fault of the reader...I will try to test my card in another mmc reader and see what happens...

I've had similar problems with the ericsson card reader and have changed to a USB 6 in 1 reader, which works perfectly with my XP-system. However I have the same problem with getting my 128Mb MMC working with the HPM-10. Although I download to the card without any problem the HPM-10 comes up with "file system error" every time I load the MMC.
Basically my PC can read and play the card without any difficulty but my MP3 cannot.
Anyone which might have a solution?

tried formatting it in a windows 9x environment???
That should do the trick.
The problem I have is that my card isn't recognised anywhere...

I think your problem is with your ericsson card reader...I read on several different websites that if you handle your ericsson card reader in an xp-environment, you're in a world of sh... lots of different fail-readings comes up along with freeze frames and what have ya...best thing to do in my opinion is to uninstall everything to do with the bogus reader and try a new one...it's not the most expensive toy you can get...
Thanx for the advice on my 128 Mb card - I'll try it out.

I have a multiboot system (WinXP, Win98SE and linux). And the same thing happens in all OSs. I am getting a new MMC card reader/writer tomorrow and see what happens. But I am starting to think my card is simply dead.

Well I got a new sandisk mmc reader/writer and still I can't format my mmc in any OS...Think my card is dead for good. When I try to format the card in winxp I get the message
Error in IOCTL call
I will send an email to sandisk and see if they have anything to propose.

Well, sandisk offered to replace the card.
Only problem is they ask where and when I bought the HPM 10.
It was a present from an ex, and there is no way in the world I am going to call her after all this time just for the card...
Let's see how they take European Union as an answer for the place it was bought...

I read somewhere (and it works) the solution is to use the format utility that came with the origional drivers for the Parallel reader/writer that came with the HPM-10. It has sorted the problem out for me in the past. Dont rush out and buy a new reader until you have tried it.
