I have had no problems upgrading to R2D and yesterday to R2F. I live in Glasgow where the local Sony Ericsson Centre has been very helpful |

CPW Greenford refused over the phone but MoCo in Hayes did it without a quibble.
I was even sent MoCo's number by SE customer support.
It takes a while so they had my phone overnight to do it.
I'm still testing if it has solved the BT headset issues that I want solved before I resolve to keep the phone.

Hi, thanks for taking up the cause.
I emailed Orange a few times during which time their story changed from "fine, but we don't do upgrades, go to SonyEricsson" to "up to you, but we don't endorse anyupgrading" (all paraphrased).
Now trying to find out whether, if I get an upgrade done at CPW in London, I'll be able to restore all the Orange-specific stuff? Anyone know at all??
Thanks. |

I'm still in the 7 working days following an upgrade... unless my Motorola bluetooth headset works without trouble all weekend I'm sending it back (I wonder if they'll notice that the firmware has been upgraded).
After doing a full restore, all the Orange startup logos are back so I don't know what else Orange do to customise the phone. I can't imagine they do much more.
On the BT headset... I'm still having some trouble picking up an incoming call, but at least now once I pick up the call in phone, I can transfer to the headset afterwards.

@broughs
Which one do you use? The one in Clydebank next to Clyde 1 FM? |

Hi Mad Taffy,
Same old problem, CPW in Aberdeen will NOT upgrade Orange handsets, and Orange have not replied to my calls ....
Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place !!
In retrospect I should have waited 2 weeks, spent another 50 quid and stayed with Vodafone.
Why is their policy not consistent across the whole of the UK?
Seems only CPW in the big cities have the Orange R2D firmware...
Shocking customer service

In Northern Ireland the is only one SE service centre, CPW in Belfast. They agreed to upgrade mine on the phone one day but refused the next day, when I called to ask how long it took. I tried to tell them that other CPW branches were doing the upgrade, but still no dice.
I agree, CPW should have a national policy on Orange upgrades, & some staff training would be nice too. |

I got my Orange P800 upgraded to R2D and so has another of my friends from the CPW off Baker Street London, if memory serves me right they were the first people to do the upgrades. |
