Can I remove Vodafone Live from my T610? |

I bought a T610 today and I'm very happy with it. The phone is however equipped with Vodafone Live. I can't find a single reason why I should use Vodafone Live. Is there a way to get rid of it?

If you bought it at OCOM or Vodafone Stores you probably have it operator locked to Vodafone as they have only received those phones from SE so far.
They won't get the other ones for another 1-2 weeks according to the person I spoke to at OCOM today.
This is the first phone that is fully compatible with Vodafone Live! and SE really want it to come out with this supported... According to the guy at OCOM, they will get VERY LIMITED supply of the unlocked phones... So the risk is that yours is locked... I think all LIVE phones are!
Cost is 350SEK to unlock it as far as I know... And it can only be done after your "bindningstid" is through... |

You have to pay if use some of the features. The problem is that Vodafone Live is taking over my phone. It's impossible to use WAP without connecting to the Vodafone Live homepage. All the icons look really ugly but I guess I soon will be able to download the original themes. |

I think its cheaper to download live! pages (what you pay p/kb) than non-live! pages. It also has good news and sport pages (esp football tables). Also can get cinema tickets easy with warner bros tie in.

I'm happy with just a bookmark to Vodafone Live. The problem is that the button which allows you to use WAP is replaced with a shortcut to Vodafone Live. If I want to visit esato.com I first have to visit Vodafone Live. |

The bad thing with the Live version of T610 is that the phone's software has been altered. The biggest changes has been made to all WAP-shortcuts. For instance, if you chosse the option saying "more Themes" you will instantly be shown the Vodafone Live startpage where there are no thmese to be found. The same goes for "More Ringtones".
Also, the icon on the top left, called "favourites" in a Live phone directs you to a Vodafone Live-page unlike the ordinary T610 which guides you to a online usermanual.
But the worst thing in my opinion is the new icons found in the Live version. They are ugly and totally unusable on any other background than white. This is the major reason why I'm returning my Vodafone Live T610!

Sorry to dissapoint you, but you cannot change the icons with another theme. All icons are coded in the phone. Possibly a new software could replace them.

The Vodafone Live software on your phone (eg. the different menu structure, live button, links etc.) cannot be changed. Not even with a software update. The necessary equipment is not available to a normal update partner and even if they have it I doubt that they are allowed to do it. Vodafone subsidized your phone and you pay them with having to stand this excruciating branding.
Also, the phone is not locked as someone posted here. The phone can be used on any network. But you will still have the Vodafone Menu and the Live Button.
The Branding on the actual phone body can be "erased" by using a normal rubber

Did you try this yourself? And the phone was a branded vodafone live telephone? Including the changed menu of the phone?
I don't think it works. Can anybody confirm it? |

Can anyone post, or point me to a picture of the T610 Vodafone or T-Mobile interface (the desktop icons)??
I sure hope Orange doesn't try to customise the menus. I don't mind them putting their Orange WAP/GPRS/MMS data accounts in, and I'll tolerate their startup logo... but if they change the icons... |

All Vodafone Live! handsets sold in Sweden are operator locked to Vodafone Sweden and cannot be unlocked during the initial contract...
And as the initial poster is from Sweden, I thought this may be relevant to him!
I'm not sure how it is in other Vodafone countries though, and as you point out this does not seem to be the case in all countries (which is good!)... |
