Sony Ericsson t68i Problem |

Hi. I've had my T68i for about 6 months now and until a few days ago, I had no problems with it whatsoever. The problems began when I entered the code for viewing the IMEI number of the cell phone, etc. (the code that is entered by moving the joystick left, pressing *, joystick right, and so on). While browsing through the service menus, I happened across an option to change the screen contrast and made some changes to the same.
A few days after this activity, I noticed that whenever I'm in an area that's out of the range of my local wireless network (Rogers AT&T) and come out of it after a little bit, I am completely unable to send or receive calls. I have to physically remove the SIM card and insert it back again and restart my phone. This has been happening almost everytime I get out of range and back again and it's really ticking me off!!
I would really appreciate if anyone out there can help me out in this regard. |

a safer way of viewing your IMEI is *#06#
check your gsm network search mode (menu>connect>gsm networks>search mode). it should be on automatic.
OR
you can reconfigure your phone to the original factory settings by doing a master reset. but make sure you've made your backups before attempting a master reset, this will DELETE ALL your custom information and settings.

Thanks for the reply. My GSM network search mode is already set to Automatic. Btw, thanks a lot for the code used to view the IMEI. I haven't tried the master reset option as yet because I haven't backed up my information as yet
I'll give it a shot and hope it works!! |

SOS calls only could possible mean the contacts to the smart card are loose and don't have have enough tension to the contacts on the smart card. |

hey i have almost the smae problem; I can't call sometimes.. I have entered the service menu lately too, and changed the contrast.. I allready did a master reset but it didn't make any difference... When I use the same SIM at the same place at the same time in my good old t28s it does get connected to the network and i can make calls!! And also when i use another SIM in my t68 from another network operator i can't call either.. So it's probably something with the phone! I'm going back to the phone shop tomorrow.. Will let you know! |

Hey everyone. Just as an update, I haven't tried the master reset option as yet because I purchased this phone used and kinda forgot to ask the first user of the phone for the phone lock code so now I'm looking for a way to reset lock codes on my t68i.
The funny thing is that when the problem occurs, the network signal strength is at full and the name of the network (Rogers AT&T) shows up as well. I just can't seem to make any calls. The moment I try, the phone freezes and I have to take out the battery and slide the SIM card in and out and restart the phone.
I hope I can work my way around this problem 'coz I spent a lot of money on this phone and this is really getting me down!!
P.S. Thanks for all the replies guys |
