with the proper software, u can make home-made ringtones for the P800 using .wav files.
u can use various photo editors (i use ACDSee) to convert image pixels to fit the P800 screen.
i suppose u can use gif animators to make your own screensavers.
oh, about agent smith...he copied himself into the dude (bane) that picked up the phone in Neo's dream...mentioned earlier in this thread. |

Not remember when the 2 ships stayed behind to wait for news from the Oracle one of them got out, thats when you see smith copy himself to bane, he then picks up the phone and gets out, you dont actually see smith outside the matrix because its the mind of smith in the body of bane.
I heard on sunday that I a friend of a friend has a workmate who will be able to get hold of revolutions in the next 2 months, ill keep you posted, if were lucky i might up it into my webspace. |

This will probably enlighten everything about Matrix Reloaded - WARNING - Do not read it if you have not seen the film yet and do not want to spoilt the ending! |

saw the film last night - load of sh*te.
Incredible special effects, yes;
Boring plot laughably disguised by a tendancy to put as many long words as possible to try and confuse the audience, yes.
started skinning up and got bored watching the film, yes.
will i go and see the next one, no.
Just my humble opinion folks...

not meaning to be thick but what programs can i use to compose ringtones ... how does one come about making wallpapers and screensavers. taking pictures are easy but should they be in a certain size/format so they can look 'perfect'.

Great... I use Sonar as well..and Sound Forge XP. The P800 can accept standard MIDI (G-MIDI) files as well as WAV..any special coding that Sonar or Sound Forge embed onto the audio files will be ignored, and will just bloat the final output file size for the P800. Here are some tips when composing ringtones:
The P800 can only do 16-note polyphony... I'm sure you know this does NOT mean that you can have 16 instruments playing chords... this means 16 notes..period... this includes any notes held over from a previous measure, or chord. 16 TOTAL... and use only the basic instruments... weird MIDI maps don't sound good... they play, but sound generic anyway. The P800 is FM-based MIDI, not wavetable.
4 basic instruments should play out fine... or if you want more instruments, just make sure that only 16 notes are playing at any given time...tied notes count as well..so if you want nice long sustained notes, take them into consideration as well. And unlike other phones, SE makes use of the individual volume sliders, so fade-in, fade-out, and over-all volume markers are used... this is why some MIDI files sound soft on the P800 while others are very loud.
I'd recommend using WAV files for very complex sounding ringtones, sound effects, etc... Record/mix/master the WAV in full 16-bit, 44.1kHz, stereo, PCM format... then do a 'Save As' in 8-bit, 22kHz, mono, GSM6.10 compression WAV. This will give you the smallest file size possible for wav files while maintaining the audio quality over the P800 speaker.
For wallpapers and screensavers... wallpapers can be either jpg, gif, bmp files... jpg being the best choice. Size is 208 x 144. Animated screensavers are 320 x 208 animated GIF format, the top 208 x 144 will be visible even with the flip closed. The maximum full-screen refresh rate on the P800 that still looks smooth is about 10fps, so don't try to push for 15fps, even if the LCD can handle it... you'll start to see re-draw lines.
Hope this helps! |

Just want to clarify that the P800 and the T300 both uses wavetable MIDI albeit it is a little crappy.... Play any horn instruments and you will hear the difference. The use of wavetable is also mentioned in the whitepapers for both models. |

If it really is wavetable (all I can find in the WP is - G-MIDI level 1 with 16 voices polyphony...nothing about wavetable synthesis... the T300, 310 and 610 however are wavetable as stated in their WP) then what kind of crappy samples did they get?!??!
...update... you're right... the P800 is wavetable based!!!! (sorry this is a major shock to me) I just replaced the MIDI bank on my P800 and it sound 100x better now!!! (louder too)
go here (under tips & tricks) to see how to upload a larger, better sounding MIDI bank to your P800!!!! Thanks so much to Ajack!

well, check your firmware version... it should be at LEAST R2D... the later the better.
Tweaks? hmmm... other than the MIDI patch upgrade mentioned above... get all the useful software.
For music, I'd recommend Ogg Player... plays Ogg files, and an Ogg file encoded at 96kbps sounds as good as an MP3 file encoded at 192kbps (well, not AS good, but better than 128kbps or even 160kbps) ...so you get the quality, without the size. The only problem with Ogg Player at this point is that Ogg files stutter a LOT when used with the 128MB Duo... I already raised this concern with the developer, and he said that he only has the 16MB Duo and it works fine with it. (Ogg files don't stutter either on my 16MB Duo) ... so I'm guessing that Ogg Player has diffculty playing an Ogg stream from larger (or is it just a 128MB Duo that's almost full?) Memorystick Duo.
VICS video player is also a must... it's still in Beta form right now, but it's very good. |

first and foremost, thanks for all you help and instant replies to queries jplac. it's all been very useful. i'm not thick or anything. it's just that the P800 is pretty much my first 'kick-ass' phone/pda.
MIDI patch, will do that sir
ogg player and files etc, you've advised me on that before and has already been tackled
VICS video player, where can i get that from?
been goin through previous threads and i've notcied there's an absolute array of software to download. not to make the same mistake again, i only want to download programs i need.
basically, all i want the P800 equipped with is programs for listening to music, keepin concise contacts, watch the occasional full length film (is that possible yet? if so, do teach me how to convert video files to nice small itty bitty ones jplac , make phone calls, a good diary for future schedules, taking good photographs and video clips (if possible) and maybe the internet (good cheap way that it )
what do you recommend and advise?
head about this SMAN thing....some file manager program with an apparently very irritating logo should i get that?
i respect your privacy but is it possible for me to email you if i was to face any other probles or queries? after reading most of your posts,
you do seem VERY knowledgable on the P800
once again J...thanks for all your help !!
