Pay-as-you-go users are basically being subsidised by those of us who actually have contracts. Why should you get the same services that us contract subscribers get when we are willing to make a firm commitment to the network, and you're not? Thats why cheap PAYG customers won't get GPRS, HSCSD, or any other technological goodies - perhaps not even MMS. |

You get cheaper phones, and inclusive minutes.
It isn't pay as you go really then..it's pay if you CAN actually go. But ya cant. Nice one Orange...another thumbs up...ahem DOWN.

How did you come to this conclusion then? Contract phones are for those who NEED their phones hence they can use it how ever much they need i.e. for business use instead of worrying about getting their next top-up card! The inclusive minutes included in the service plans work out cheaper than they would if paid for on any pay-as-u-go tariff and also you get added benefits of itemised bills free insurance (on orange) and so much more. Hence like I said contract phones are for serious users and pay-as-u-go are as the name suggests for kids or those with poor credit! |

True, calls are cheaper.
Serious users . Tell me functions you have different on your T68 with contract, that i dont have? (bar GPRS)
For kids or those with poor credit? Maybe i just dont want to be tied down for a whole year with the same phone? I had a contract phone for the last two years. 3210, then 8210. I found 7 months into the contract, i wanted a newer phone, but couldnt leave because it would cost me alot....
So now, i am free to do as i please.
Didnt think of that?...didnt think so. Open your eyes mate.

Ha 'open your eyes mate'!! lemme just quote that one more time... 'open your eyes mate'!! Open MY eyes... ok so lemme get this right you didn't wanna be tied down to a phone for a whole 12 months and yeah I do agree with you on this one it is annoying but if you went onto a good tariff you most probably got the phone free anyway.
So it came to the 7 month mark in your contract and you wanted a brand spanking new phone so pay as you go is the best way to do this, right? er... wrong so let's look at rrps for phones e.g. that T68 thing £360!!! (if you bought this on a good tariff you could get it for a tenner MATE) if you wanted to get a new phone on pay as you go it'll cost you the earth and if you don't mind paying the earth you can do that on a contract too. If you want to change your phone while in a 12 month contract just buy one outright - like you would on pay-as-you-go and just put your contract SIM in it and enjoy your cheaper contract call prices!
Sorry for the sarcasm MATE I just didn't appreciate your patronising tone

I hate to disapoint you all, but Orange will be releasing GPRS on pre-pay in the not too distant future
Expect to see a 'very' popular GPRS phone on prepay when the service launches |

Couldn't find a post to put this question, i'll just put it here.
The other day, I went to Vodafone AND Carphone Warehouse askin why my T65 had in the Status menu "GPRS not allowed". At vodafone, the girl there kept talkin about not having my details. I then when to Carphone warehouse and they said that there are certain (vodafone) providers that provide GPRS and the Vodafone i'm usin doesn't provide GPRS.
I'm a bit confused, can anyone explain why I can't just use the Basic Plan for GPRS on vodafone.. (the one where connection is free and is charged 2p/kb) ?
One more thing, does anyone have any information on Genie (BT Cellnet) providing cheap Sim cards which provide like 300/600 text messages a month with WAP/GPRS??
Sorry for being long-winded but thanks!!
