hbh-60 instantly disconnects |

Hi -
I just got an HBH-60 Bluetooth headset for my T68i. After charging and pairing successfully, I have a problem. When I turn on the headset, the phone detects it (displays "HBH-60 connected"). Then, within 3 seconds, it disconnects (displays "HBH-60 disconnected"). Every time, even when the phone and headset are inches apart.
I called SE support and they say I need a software upgrade. My software version is R5D007.
I want to know if this will really fix the problem. I don't want to be without a cell phone for a week for nothing!
Thanks,

What phone are you using and have you set BT to on, or automatic?
BT should be set to on.
Nothing displays on my T68i when I switch my HBH60 on.
It might be worth deleting it in BT options and re pairing. |

I'm using a T68i, and Bluetooth is set to "On", not automatic. I re-paired twice, same thing everytime.
What software version are you using? |

If you only find this annoying, dont upgrade as otherwise your standby time will reduce. The t68i does not have Sniff mode.

This is how the HBH 60 works. For the T68i, do the following.
1. Set operation mode to "on" under bluetooth.
2. Turn on the HBH 60. At first, you will get a connection that will
drop after a few seconds.
3. When you are ready to execute a voice command, press the call
handling button on the HBH 60. You should hear a few beeps,
then a connection will be made. This is verified on the T68i display.
4. You will then hear a high, then low beep through the HBH 60 and
the T68i display will say to speak a voice command after you hear
a tone in the HBH 60. After this tone, you will have a few seconds
to speak a voice command (previously recorded). If the command
is not recognized or you do nothing, the connection will drop. If
the voice command is recognized, it will be executed (dial, etc.).
5. If you dial via the voice command through the HBH 60, just press
the call handling button after the conversation to hang up. You
may press the call handling button at any time to disconnect. The
connection between the headset and the phone will then drop
after a few seconds. |

Thanks, Will! I feel kind of dumb for not realizing this. On the other hand if disconnection messages are normal, they should have put it in the manual.

I have been using the HBH 60 for about 3 weeks, and it works great. If you have any problem with voice recognition, try recording all your voice commands through the headset.

I have found the HBH 60 to be indispensible, especially when I am driving. Another thing I found useful was to voice activate the sound recorder from the HBH 60. This allows you to record a hands free voice message. I wish every driver used one of these headsets.

Just out of curiousity, how do you record the voicedials through the HB60. I have tried but can only manage through the phone. Mine is a T68i & 610

I've had success with voice recording on the T68i through the HBH-60 by doing this:
At the point when your phone display asks if you want to record a voice command, press Yes, then immediately press the call handling button on the HBH-60. The HBH-60 will be connected and you should then get a message on the phone that says voice commands not activated, alter settings? Press No, then your HBH-60 will be in control of the voice recording. The phone may then go to standby mode, but just go back and repeat the steps for voice recording. When the phone displays the message that asks you to record the voice after the tone, do so. You will hear it repeated in the HBH-60 and the phone will display a message asking if this is ok. Press Yes and you are done. You could record other voice commands at this point, but if you take no further action, the HBH-60 will be disconnected after a few seconds.
