but as I'm snowed under at work haven't got masses of time to go through all the boards.

A friend sent me a picture from Vodafone Live! at the weekend to my Orange P800 but when I tried to download it, I got a "bad filename" error. Anyone got ideas as to clever ways round it or is it just the usual cr@p about not being able to send pictures to different networks?

I get sent MMS from Vodafone to my Orange phone all the time. They usually arrive as an SMS which gives you a username and password to log in to the Orange website and retrieve the photo. Pretty much destoys the whole point of MMS if you ask me !

Did you not get this SMS ??

i say use nowmms...it works great from any network because it's not through the network gateways...and most of all no 40p surcharge on the wap connection.
can't wait till we have chips implanted in our brains and the size issue goes back to being something else.

Thanks chaps. When I try to download the file from Vod Live it starts downloading and then crashes with "bad filename". Will give Orange a call later on but if anyone can shed some light on this, it would me most appreciated!

Like the other post says:

The only cross network MMS supported by Orange is

Orange to O2 (and vice versa)
Orange to T-Mobile ( "" )

You can try sending and recieving from Vodafone and sometimes it will work but if you report a problem to orange they will say it is not properly released yet and give you a date.

Ive had so many problems with MMS not sending, having to resize pictures etc, I haven't bothered with it at all.

Id much rather send an SMS and add animations to those lucky enough to have a p800. For those that don't, tough tits

andy kno what u mean, most of my mms send fine, but the other person to receive them is a totally different kettle of fish, I'd say 1 in 3 mms I send actually get through to that person. So i'm spending £1.20 on a silly picture message for example

be carefull sending ems messages (or even long messages) to some phones. ALthough most will strip out what they dont understand and display the text, there is some notable ones (Sony Z5/J7/J70) that simply drop the message (no alerts, nothing), even more annoying since the sender gets the delivery report. I had this happen to me when i was trying to send a LONG "sorry" txt to my girlfriend at the time. Lets say we are split now.

Be warned....
