HPM-10 sound quality, SE earphones vs. others? |

I've had the hpm-10 mp3 player for sometime, but I am so dissapointed with the sound quality(ie no very low or high frequencies) that I havent used it for a while. Im using 192 kb mp3's.
so my query is, anyone who has used better headphones than the stock Ericsson ones,through use of an adapter or other, is the sound quality noticeably better? Or is it merely that the mp3 player lacks the ability to reproduce a large range of frequencies?
note: this is especially noticeable on my fav music, electronic dance, which utilizes a wide range of frequencies |

I used better quality earphones by using an adapter and the sound was much better. It still wont compare to a high quality CD/MP3/MD player but its better than stock. |

thats exactly what I wanted to know, I have some awesome headphones that I wanted to use...now i think I will invest the 2 bucks or so for an adapter 
although I still want a new mp3 player, quality es muy importante. that'd be nice if SE came out with a new mp3 player, the hpm-10 is what, like 3 years old? |

the earphones only work properly in one position. They lock into place when facing down inline with the phone. I can assure you 100% that this will solve ur sound quality problems!!

thanks for the info, I read somethin similar in a different topic, and yess it does increase the sound quality, BUT, it still isnt that great, my cd player sounds much better than do cd-quality mp3's through the hpm-10 |

Sorry, don't want to patronise you guys but make sure you have the headphone jack in all the way, you really need to shove it in really hard cos otherwise you get shit sound when it looks like it's in properlly but it ain't. I've had no problems with sound, even with dance music like Massive Attack or heavy stuff like Ministry (not Ministry of Sound).
The only problem I've had is that the connection is not very secure and the slightest knock disconnects it and you lose your place on the album.
There is the HBM 10 bluetooth player coming out soon, now THAT looks good. |

thanks for the info, I actually didnt have it all the way pushed in when I first bought it, but it has been ever since. Im quite the audiophile/musician, so I can tell when a sound quality is sub-par. If anyone has data on the HPM-10 as far as the frequency range in hz/khz, please respond.

there isnt much about the player on SE's site, dunno why. Release date is second half this year, but Im guessing that we can expect prices similar to when the HPM-10 came on the market, 150-200 USD. |

One thing though, the output of the HPM-10 isn't all that powerful so using earphones with larger drivers will result in lower volume. It works well enough for good quality earbuds but it hasnt got the juice for good quality over the ear headphones. |
