Hi,
I've been tipped to convert my mp3s toOGG Vorbis files, at a lwoer quality, (but the quality on OGG is naturally higher so a low quality setting on OGG will besimilar to higher setting on an mp3) so i can save memory card space.

But I've done that now and I have no idea how to get them files onto the p800 - will it VEEN be able to play these files if i CAn get them onto it!?!

I have tried the COPY and PASTE method using the "MY P800" icon on my desktop but it just says "Could not copy file/s to P800" or som, ething like that.

Anyhelp is much appreciated.
Thanks

Just downloaded EggPlayer.
Thought that would fix my problem, but it hasn't worked!

It downloaded fine, but the ogg files still won't allow me to copy and paste into the memory card or the phone itself!

Any ideas?

Download OggPlay! 0.4b from http://www.geocities.com/p800tools

Use this to play the Ogg files, as the built-in MP3/Audio player will not play them.

Then copy the Ogg files over to your P800/Memory Stick the traditional way.. Although, you cannot copy them directly to the Audio directories, you must copy them to the Documents directories, and then use a filemanager from within the P800 to move them around.. The PC Suite is the stupid thing that is blocking it for some stupid reason.

Then it'll work like a charm!.. i have 14 Ogg files in my P800 now (16mb duo only), at 45kbps bitrate, and it sounds great!

just use a normal filemanager for the P800.. QFileMan, Tracker's FileMan, or some other filemanager, and move them around.. you can move them wherever you want, its not the P800 that blocks copying .ogg files in the Audio directories, its the P800 PC Suite that for some reason blocks it (and there's no point to this whatsoever.. so.. hands down for SE on this one).

Thanks
using QFILEMAN

must admit I am finding it awfully confusing though.. but the main thing is that it's now working! Any organisational tips for placing the OGG Fles in one place for easy deleting later using the qfileman ? thanks

there's a point to be made in that since the P800 was only designed to play the formats it came with, it only allows them formats in the relevant directories to save space and processor time, and also to deter people from transferring files that won't play to their phone

Its a pain in the ass really - what would have been better is that it warn you that the files are not meant to be in a particular folder but then give you the option to copy there anyway.

TWO THINGS TO NOTE:

1) There is no need for the file manager software to move the OGG files from DOCUMENTS/UNFILED into anywhere else because OGG will AUTOMATICALLY LOCATE ANY OGG FILES WHEREVER THEY ARE IN PHONE OR MEM CARD

2) OGG FILES ARE NOTICABLY LOUDER THAN THE MP3 FILES THEY WERE CONVERTED FROM.... IS that just my imagination or is that true?
