So there's this option in the sync software from SE (using the USB cradle, BTW) that theoretically allows you to sync email from the past x days. So I choose to sync the last 7 days of my Inbox. (yes, the box to activate the syncing of messages is clicked!)

Basically it doesn't work. I got 3 emails at 7am this morning, and synced before I left for work so they were on there. No dice. They emails sit in my Inbox in Outlook XP but won't go over to my phone's inbox. Annoying. The thing I don't understand is how it would work at all because as soon as you pull the messages off the server with Outlook, and then check your email on the P800, your p800 inbox will be empty b/c as far as I can tell, the inbox is only whats in your inbox ON THE SERVER.

So...is there a way to a) actually sync messages that were d/l to Outlook over to the P800 and b) have the P800 keep them there until I delete them from the phone or outlook?

Thanks...

Answer to both a) and b) is that it works like that already ! All synced mail messages come from your Outlook mail file, not your mail server. The mails then stay on your P800 until they are either deleted on the P800 or in Outlook.

I set my syncing up for the first time the other night, and it work seamlessly first time. Asked it to only copy message that were 10 days old or younger onto my P800, and thats what it did.

Sorry but I cant see why you're having problems!

I don't understand... Example:

I'm at work and get an email on my P800. I go home and download that email through Outlook. Now, the email is no longer on the server. The next time I check my email using my P800 (every 15 minutes), it no longer sees that email on the server and *bam* its thus gone from my P800 Inbox. Yours does not work this way?

Right, I get you now. Its got nothing to do with syncing at all !!

I've tried the same exercise on my P800 and it does exactly the same. Pretty crap !!

So...even if you ARE able to sync an email that you got from Outlook back into your phone, the next time you check your messages on the phone it will delete them from the Inbox.

The only way I can think of getting around this is leaving a copy of the email on the server from Outlook. I guess that would work, as long as when you delete an email from Outlook it actually deletes it off the server as well, not just from YOUR local inbox.

That being said, I still would need to alleviate this problem where it won't sync emails. Well, actually no I wouldnt. B/C even if I got them through Outlook first they would remain on the server to d/l from my phone.

So as long as when you delete an email from Outlook it also deletes it from the server then everything should work. I'll try it when I get home...

The issue isnt with syncing. The scenario provided in the guys second post shows that he wasnt even using syncing and the problem still occurs. I have tested and can reproduce the same symptoms.

When syncing with Outlook, it's supposed to create a special folder where your synced PC emails should be located.

Are you using exchange server or something? It might not work with that.

make sure your sync settings are correct.

I think we need to establish if this is a syncing problem. Re-reading the first post, hes clearly using a syncstation, In which case the synced mails are put into a sepearate folder to other mail accounts.

Then in the second scenario, syncing is not mentioned.

Exactly what procedure are you following matey ??

OK, I figured it out. I just assumed that it was putting my synced emails into my P800 inbox...which of course it was not. It was putting it into that other folder that I never opened (I tried opening it from my control panel but it told me I couldn't change anything on that account from my phone).

I feel pretty dumb now because Ive been through every single option in this stupid phone over the past week and played with every single setting....except obviously this one.

Thanks guys.

Now I just have to get Bluetooth working...
