I was just wondering if its really necessary to upgrade the firmware of my phone. I was told that it would be faster compared to what i have now. It will cost Php 500 at semicon here in manila. I was also told that should there be any other problems (parts) i will also be forced to pay the replacement. Do they really need to open the phone just to update the software? how can i be sure that its not their fault when something happened to my phone?

The soft update wont affect the hardware.the update is done by cable or ir so they dont open the phone.if some hardaware fails after this i dont think will b cuz of the update.

what version of firmware do you have? current one is R7A i think. you can also try to call SmartNet and ask how much upgrade would cost. might be cheaper. dunno.
