Hello.
The software that I have w/ my 3com USB bluetooth device says to initialize the connection from the "device's software" (in this case, my P800). But when I open any of the apps that came w/ the P800, it just says, "Please connect a phone"... so... what app (and how) does makes the actually connection? I've paired just fine (w/ 3 devices actually). The headset I have is ok.. that works fine. My issue is just connecting from a PC.. none of my apps seem to "make the initial connection".

1- install the P800 software first.
2- Install the BT drivers for your device on the PC.
3- Paire your device with the pc.
4- check which com is for the BT serial port in the BT program (com5 or com6)
5- At the right corner where the clock is there should be an icon with two arrows and says phone connection link. Click on it you'll get a window Link properties.
Check that the check box for the same serial port is checked and when phone is in range shows also connected.

I've done all this and tested:
Still no joy. I've even bought yet another BT adapter for my pc (D-Link).
This program at least gives me the option to "Connect" (the 3 com depended on the phone's application to connect, which it wouldn't).

Anyway, the pairing went just fine again.
But when I click on connect, the error comes:
The Bluetooth Serial Port connection failed: The remote device closed the connection (this is on the PC).
The phone does get the request ok but then shows that it's connected (per the 2 arrows on the BT icon). But when any traffic attempts to go from PC to phone (either direction), the connection breaks.

Any additional ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks.

Thanks for the help.
I think I MAY have it sorted. I'm using a laptop w/ a G network card. My wireless network card and BT adapter is not working well together.
I've found that if I boot the Laptop w/o either device installed, then insert the wireless nic, THEN insert the BT adapter it seems to work... sort of...
WHen I click "connect" it does connect, but still says the remote device disconnected the connection, but the Sony software seems to remain connected.. strange, but hey, seems to work.

Again, THANK YOU for your help.

theres millions of posts around about this if you search for them - probably in the technical forum.

They all hinge around the fact that the best way to do it is pair the two, then choose "allow to connect without confirmation" on the paired settings in the p800. From there, once it has disconnected and you get the error, the p800 picks up the connection again and hey presto.

Try the billionton drivers if you havent done so already - a lot more reliable and advanced than some of the drivers for the specific bt adapters.
