Just a small warning. If you are on Orange and you have unlocked your phone then you will find it is relocked once you get it updated to r2d. |

Sorry to post to an old topic, but I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I contacted CPW Repair Centre in Belfast to ask about getting my Orange P800 R2D upgrade last week & they said no problem. Called back today to see they had many to do this morning & now they tell me they will not do the upgrade on an Orange handset. I called the CPW Repair 0800 number & I was told that they don't do the repair on Orange handsets. Hence my question:
How can such a large & well known company not have a consistant policy on such a simple matter?
As I am snooked here in Northern Ireland, CPW Belfast is the only SE repair centre in the country & I don't want to send my phone to the mainland, has anyone got an email copy of a statement from CPW saying that they will do the upgrade that I could show in the shop?
Thanks in advance. |

I tried CW in Belfast too a few days after the firmware was released and they told me the same thing. I've resigned myself to waiting on Orange to test the firmware before releasing it. |

Hi guys,
Sorry for being ignorant here, but how do you check the firmware you got on your P800? Is the same as for T68 which is >*<*<<*

I bought my P800 second hand - do u need to take the warranty stuff with the phone when u get it upgraded or do u just hand in the phone?
Another thing - how long did it take - minutes, hours, days?
Cheers!

Change the small faceplate on the phone for one which doesnt have the orange logo on it, erase the orange startup and shutdown screens and take it in for the upgrade.
Those muppets at CPW wont know the difference. |

I've just received a P800 on Orange and it doesn't work well with my Motorola Bluetooth headset (as others have reported). I'm also on the older firmware.
I've also been told on the phone by CPW in Greenford that they won't touch an Orange P800.
Does a firmware upgrade fix the BT headset problems? If I can't get this upgraded easily I'm sending the phone back to Orange in the next 7 days and going back to my trusty T68.

AndyP> Well, this is what is bizzarre. I have checked this on some other's phones and when they got it updated it did lock it back onto Orange. When i got mine done however it did NOT lock it back onto Orange. I am guessing that this is because of the type of unlock that some people get. I got mine done by the Mobile Repair Centre in west ken. but the guy i tested this on got his done at some shop on Finchley Rd. I suspect this could be the difference between a good unlock and a shit unlock! |

just to check, before i go and get my orange p800 upgraded, have others done this and successfully been able to restore the orange 'bits' - start-up etc. or are they gone for good?
do orange have a history of releasing upgrades at all or not?
cheers again. |

I just got my phone back from an overnight stay at MoCo in Hayes.
Upon loading from a backup all the Orange branding is back.
I'm still experimenting to see if my Motorola Headset works. I think its failed once but I need to do some more checks.
Does anyone want to help me start a list of which BT headsets work with which firmware versions?
