T-mobile internet plans pricing? |

OK so I don't get the difference they are trying to sell between the T-zones service and the full out "internet" service which goes for about 2x as much per MB.
I had my T68i set up with the Tzones service (1MB @ $2.99) and recently purchased a P800. I didn't change my plan at ALL and I still get full out internet over GPRS. So I guess my question is this...if I wanted to get say...10 MB instead of 1MB, why don't I just get the T-zones pro @ $10 instead of the full internet (10MB as well) for $20?
What is the difference....is there any or is it just a pricing gimmick?
Thanks.

The difference is which APN you have access too. If you were to use your phone as a modem for you PC you'd need the Internet plan. Fortunately for T-Mobile customers most of the spartphones don't need the Internet plans to work correctly, the exception is the Treo.
T-Zones (basic & Pro)
wap.voicestream.com
T-Zones Internet
internet2.voicestream.com
internet3.voicestream.com
FYI T-Zones pro also gives you 600 sms. So we'll be droping the 500 add on and just going with the T-Zones Pro option.

OK, so here's a question: why in the world, when you go from Tzones to Tzones pro (1MB to 10MB) does the additional MB cost jump from $3 to $10? That makes no sense at all, it seems like it should be LESS than $3. Is it a mistake?
Thanks for your help...
edit: is there a way to get MORE than 10MB per month without jumping in price/MB? Seems like due to all the smartphones out there that there's more of a demand for bandwidth than 10MB.

Its not that I don't have full internet access...its just that I don't have the bandwidth I want. I would probably eat thru at least 1MB a day if I used it the way I wanted to, but the biggest plan they have for Tzones is 10MB + 10$/MB extra...unless I wanted to go to full-out internet on a pc (using the p800 as a modem for a laptop). But then the price/MB doubles. |
