Memory stick not sticking! |
edweeks Joined: May 07, 2003 Posts: 5 PM |
I've just received my p800 and everything's fine except that the Memory stick won't lock into its slot - just keeps popping out. Anybody else had this problem or know of a solution? I don't really want to have to send it back to the shop, having only just received it - but I also don't wish to start dismantling it either!
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Rename it from "Memory Stick" to "Memory Loose".
That way the name will match it.

I'm worried that if I push it any harder it'll come out the other side! |

Push it 'till you hear a "click" sound.
If you can't push it anymore, and still haven't heard the click maybe there's mechanical problem with the lock.

I think it's probably a good idea to try a different Memory Stick. But just as a matter of interest, does anybody know what locks the Memory Stick in place? Does something lock into the tiny recess just below the chamfered off corner? |

Exactly ..... (Is it broken on the MS ?) |

No, it appears to be perfectly ok. I think the problem has more to do with the pin or whatever it is that is supposed to keep it in place. |

Seem that the MS inserted and pushed in a wrong way (pins down) and the lock’s nail bended … this is my opinion. |

Either that above, or the fastening mechanism thats bad, either way, just go back to the shop and ask about it, or just take it to a service center for a fix/replacement.

Hey, i think u are putting the memory in the wrong way, thisis what happened to me the first day...i almost spent30 mins to get it out of the slot...
I doubt it is broken, just try to put some pressure to put it in...Dont forget that it is still a vergin!!!LOL

Thanks everybody. After much poking and proding I've determined that it definitely is the retaining mechanism, so it'll just have to go back to the shop - sigh! |
