I've just received my p800 and everything's fine except that the Memory stick won't lock into its slot - just keeps popping out. Anybody else had this problem or know of a solution? I don't really want to have to send it back to the shop, having only just received it - but I also don't wish to start dismantling it either!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Rename it from "Memory Stick" to "Memory Loose".
That way the name will match it.

I'm worried that if I push it any harder it'll come out the other side!

Push it 'till you hear a "click" sound.
If you can't push it anymore, and still haven't heard the click maybe there's mechanical problem with the lock. [addsig]

I think it's probably a good idea to try a different Memory Stick. But just as a matter of interest, does anybody know what locks the Memory Stick in place? Does something lock into the tiny recess just below the chamfered off corner?

No, it appears to be perfectly ok. I think the problem has more to do with the pin or whatever it is that is supposed to keep it in place.

Seem that the MS inserted and pushed in a wrong way (pins down) and the lock’s nail bended … this is my opinion.

Either that above, or the fastening mechanism thats bad, either way, just go back to the shop and ask about it, or just take it to a service center for a fix/replacement.

Thanks everybody. After much poking and proding I've determined that it definitely is the retaining mechanism, so it'll just have to go back to the shop - sigh!
