So when I go to the phone area of my phone where there are 9 sockets to place the most popular contacts, I can no longer place ANY names in the first or last sockets. I can select a contact but when I hit "Done" the P800 hangs for about 1 second and then goes back to the Phone screen where the socket I chose still says "Empty". I originally had names in there but many of them (not just the first & last) lost the link when I changed many of the contact's information.

I deleted all the contacts on my SIM card but have not done a reset yet....I'd really rather not. Any ideas, because this stupid problem is really annoying....

Oh! I had this problem ONCE

Here's what I did:
1) I re-entered the original contacts I had in those locations
2) Remove speed dial from all speed dial entries
3) Restarted my phone (You don't need to reset)
4) Re-enter all speed dial entries

Never had it since.

Well I tried your suggestion...and immediately ran into a problem when my P800 REFUSES to delete the contact in question. I choose delete and it just hangs for a second and then goes back to my contacts list, with the contact that I chose to delete still there. Ahhh!

I'm close to a master reset here... Any ideas how to get rid of this contact?

Before you lose the whole lot, try a soft reset (take out the battery while the phone is on and then replace it and restart). Not overly-likely to solve it, but worth a try.

Well, too late...did a master reset. I backed up the phone and the contacts by themselves, did a master reset, and it worked. I guess it has something to do with the fact that i put every contact into a group? I'll just leave most/all of them as UNFILED.
