Just want a little informal survey about where I can get TipicME (a great instant messaging client written in Java for P800 and Nokia Series 60 phones - supports ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN) working on Philippine GPRS providers!

I used to use this daily on Globe's WAP over GPRS. That no longer works, but have not been able to get it working over their pay GPRS either. Haven't gotten it working over SMART. Does it work with Sun? Have all the carriers effectively blocked out instant messaging apps?? But Smart promotes MSN IM on their "amazing phone"?

I can only get TipicME working nowadays at home by sharing my PC's Internet connection on the P800 via bluetooth, I'm using the latest version of the TipicME client, ver 1.3.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Mine works over Globe's paid (internet.globe.com.ph) gateway. But I obviously don't use it as much anymore. Just make sure your phone is really using the proper connection...sometimes the P800 has different settings and connection preferences for different internet programs. Just double check that the account you're connected to is really using the paid gateway... one way to check is that Opera works over it.

AFAIK, not anymore. But we had over a year of free Internet access via GPRS on Globe. Smart started charging after 6 months lang... and Smart WAP is NOT free... Globe WAP still is free.

Yes it does use your contact list.... by default, TipicME hides contacts that are offline... just go to the menu and select Change View.
