Can anybody help me? I had the phone flashed to R2D at the SE service centre in Zurich today and now it won't restore ANYTHING off my laptop or home pc, whereas before it did work.

Has anybody else had this problem?

I appreciate any advice.

The P800 has really grown on me - it's a shame the upgrade process is such a pain and a hassle.

Can you still synchronize your phone with the PC suite? I also had a firmware upgrade but heard about horror stories of people having all sorts of problems after restoring from their backup files. So, after the upgrade, I synchronized my P800 with Outlook to get all my contacts, tasks, notes, appointments back then reinstalled all the other 3rd party software.

Thanks Braindoc.

I don't synchronise with the MS-Office suite anymore.

I have had two P800 phones and three firmwares I have never got it to work properly (ie duplicate records, missing records etc)

After a lot of intitial hassle with my 1st 2 firmwares regarding restores, I got it to work and so I had settled into a (fairly obliviously) pattern of just usung the phone as my main organiser and backing up.

The five hours I spent last night before posting my request for help was a real case of bitter deja vu. The air was blue in my house - believe me!

I have recently got an excellent email account on my P800 so I have quite a few mails I would like to preserve. If I have to start again then I have to but I cannot believe that there isn't a simple fix that my sleep befuddled brain is missing.

Thanks for your advice so far - I will ask the SE centre on Monday to finally provide a solution (all my previous issues I solved myself or with Esato forum users help) but in the meantime if anybody else is out there I would really appreciate it.

Regards

Mike

what do you need to restore?

You can open the backup files (winzip) and download the files you need directly to the phone. I don't think the contacts or schedule database structure has changed.

Just in case, make sure you back up the phone prior to making these changes...

Oferlaor, that's a bit pointless for me - my phone is completely empty- just like new!

How do I unzip backup files - I thought they were only accessible via the PC Suite software? Please explain.

Best Regards

SUCCESS !!!!!!

After countless combinations of attempts I tried the following:

1. - I removed the memorystick which had the appforge application on it ( I had read elsewhere that it causes restore and backup problems)

2. - I put the phone into flight mode

And it worked!

Thanks to everybody who offered advice and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
