Has anyone actually ordered and received a p800 from Amazon in the US? The site simply says "In stock soon". I'm wondering what "soon" really means or are they maybe getting batches and filling orders as they can?

If you go through and actually try to purchase it, you'll see that it says "usually ships in 4 to 6 weeks". I don't know if thats actually true but its better than the ambiguous "soon" on the main page.

Does anyone know if it's locked or not? I'd assume that it would be, but since T-Mobile isn't officially offering the P800 yet, maybe it's not!?!

I have no idea if this will be the case with the p800, but when I ordered my t68i from Amazon, it said on the website "6-8 weeks" and it arrived in 10 days.

Also, my t68i was unlocked, but came with a T-Mo sim.

Amazon would make $180 if they signed you up for a T-mo account therefore thats how they sell the unlocked phone for $499. $499 +$180 so to them its like the really sold and unlocked phone with no service for $679.

Finally worked myself up to ordering the p800 from Amazon with a T-Mobile activation and now the site says "Not Stocked or Item Discontinued" and it won't let me place the order! Is it me or is SE not really ready for a broadscale US release? There seems to be no possible way to get the phone and save some bucks by getting an activation on a US carrier....

Anyone have the skinny on what's up?

I believe that SE is finally starting to understand that they have a problem in the US. With the lack of service centers in comparison with the rest of the places in the world that they market their phone, they really cannot realease a phone as complex as the p800 on a broadscale. Its not a t68i that doesn't really need to be upgraded and doesn't have that many problems, this is a PDA, and not having service centers is very problamtic. I wonder if they are rethinking the whole issue.

I agree with the comment that the P800 is not just a phone - in fact it's a complicated device, as I've discovered. I was not game to buy it on mail order here, so bought it through a local store, and I'm so glad. Took an hour for them to set it up for the mobile network & everything. Otherwise I would have been in quite a spot of trouble with endless phone calls for help. Sony here has setup an excellent telephone support system just for this phone, and they have been able to get me through some of the initial problems. After a week with the P800, I'm extremely happy with it, but as it's a totally new type of mobilephone/computer type device,I would recommend that one makes sure that one has good personal backup service. Will Amazon provide this?
