Is it possible to do this?

I have tried but it says "Transfer failed. Please Retry.", I can send stuff to T68 users and other T300 users and my polyphonics work fine on 6100s. Anyone know why it isn;t working and what I can do to fix this?

You can't because the nokia doesn't use midis. It uses spmidi.
It's probably done so you have to pay for all your ringtones on the nokia. And it is one of the many reason you should not buy nokia....

At least this is how it was with 3510/3510i/7210/6610.
They may have changed this.. In which case I stand corrected.

And yes. I know the 7650 and 3650 uses real midi.

SP-MIDI is not a different format. As explained on the Beatnik website:

SP-MIDI is a variation on the General MIDI format that was designed to allow composers the ability to deliver a single audio file that can playback across a wide range of MIDI-based mobile devices, each with different polyphonic limitations, and yet have the audio still sound appealing.

For instance, mobile applications that utilize SP-MIDI provide flexibility to both the system operator and the mobile device manufacturer in addressing different customer needs. For example, low-cost mass market phones may have a 4-note polyphonic limit, vs. high-end models that may have 32-note polyphony, and yet the same content will play on either device.

(end quote)

As for transferring files over IrDA, Nokia phones don't support IrDA send/receive files. So you can't transfer data directly from one phone to another, nor right-click a file in Windows and Send to IrDA. You must use special programs to send/receive files to Nokia phones.

There's actually an advantage to this. Programs that support data transfers to Nokia phones such as MobiMB or Nokia PC Suite can see the phone as a direct storage device, and the user can easily manage files on the phone without having to touch the phone.

Sorry for the long post.
