I had my P800 firmware upgraded today, I told the guy I wanted the lastest version (assumed R2D). When I got it back he told me I have R2F !!

Phone: CXC162002 R2F
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R5A
Organiser: CXC162001 R2A16
CDA: CDA16200173 R3A12.

I presume this is newer the R2D ? Anyone know the differences / how to tell ?

Thanks

This is from where in which country, and are those versions the ones he told you you have, or are they the ones you've checked and KNOW you have? UP * DOWN DOWN * DOWN * to check software version...

Incidentally, all other versions, CDA, Org & BT, are the same as we all have from the normal R2A update, just the phone that's apparently changed again.

Well, you find the differences and tell us then! We can't, we've only got lowly R2D Phone revisions!

Ok just my 2 cents on this particular issue.

1. DOES IT LOOK LIKE UIQ2.1 ??? I dont think so !!
2. Its only a 2 point revision in the firmware of the phone for heavens sake. The phone part controls the ability of the phone to make calls / initiate gprs calls NOTHING ELSE !!!!. Can you really expect that a lot has changed in a 2 point firmware revision.

I had mine done to R2D and I'm not going to bother now untill there is a major jump in the firmware ie each one has gone up by at least 1 ie phone is R3, bluetooth is R6 etc. WHAT IS THE POINT OF GETTING FIRMWARE UPGRADES JUST AT THE SLIGHTEST DROP OF A CHANGE. It is just not worth it. If you want to do it that way go work in a Sony Ericsson service centre or CPW.

Can you really be doing with the hassle of your phone being away for another 2 hours whilst its being flashed and then restoring all your data for such a miniscule upgrade.

Any idea on their changes? I take it this involves imbedded Live! services etc? Don't see why they can't just do the same as O though, and use C:/sysdata to customise the unit on top of standard R1D/R2D Phone firmware.

Agreed - I thought the point of places like this was to share information / pass knowledge. I found the info here very useful, so I thought I would contribute myself. Personally I upgraded from R1 - no one is forcing you to do upgrade.
