1GB Sony Memory Stick Pro on the P800? |

Now I for one would like to see this. You take the memory stick adapter battery cover once it's out and put a Memory Stick Pro in it. Problem is the OS will need updating and since the adapter isn't SE it won't be supported
So i for one would like to start a campaign to send some chocolates and a possibly a bunch of flowers over to sony with a card asking them nicely to consider enabling symbian OS 7.0 to read/write PRO sticks with this adapter.
I really can't see any hardwear problems since the memory stick controllers in the P800 should surely be compatible like a number of recent sony products are with an upgrade. only the software should be an issue.
So who's with me?
Come on SE! please! |

your gonne pay a fortune for that. i pre ordered my MSD 256Mb at a sony store in blegium, and i will get it in the next 2 weeks for 212€ and you can expect that if its ever posible to get a 1G stick on a p800 it will cost 1000€ |

I think bart is right ! Memory sticks are very expensive compared to other types of memory like SD or MMC |

the more products that will come on the market using MSD, the lower MSD will cost. trium is gonne use MSD 2, some new clie's are comming out, and a bluetooth MP-3 player, and the MSD is still new and not availeble every were. it takes time. |

true the MSD will get upto about 512MB and the price will fall but if you could enable the MS PRO you'll get upto 32GB (theoretical), thats the same as the latest and largest Ipod. No end of movies and music that's what I dream about.
As for cost. You can preorder a 1GB pro for £528 at Expansys a 128 duo will cost about £100* at the same place. You do the math cost per MB wise, then think about the how lugging all those duos about.
One nice card with all that room no swapping just loads of tunes and films...
*YES you can get it cheaper I know but I don't have a credit card (and don't really want one)
Equally you'll also be able to get the PRO cheaper, etc, ad infinitum. This sort of point goes on forever though. Point is the pro will always be a better bet on a £$€/MB basis. Yeah I would love a DUO with a load of space on it but since I come from an iPAQ to a P800 the concept of a jacket for extra storage isnt foreign to me. and I'll take the hit of about 5mm for a 1gig in my pocket. |

Is it just me or are the MSDs a real ripoff? Don't want whine or anything, but you think that the prices for these things should have gone way south a long time ago... what is it we're paying for? A little memory circuit that is incredibly cheap to produce, that's what...
Well well... keep on P800ing =)
