I have the possibility of buying a T310 for 210$ while a T300 with a camera is 180$. Can anyone tell me if the t310 worths the extra money? the t310 has no cammera attached and that would b a disadvantage. As i was reading in here, the diff'rence between the 2 is insignifiant.I am interested in the better one regarding the SW speed and the manufacturing quality.
PS: And i wanna know the last updated software version for the both of them.

I feel the T310 is built slightly better and seems to have corrected what I feel are shortcomings of the T300...

T300 - smooth plastic front that needs wiping every two nanoseconds to get rid of finger prints, and scratches so easily.
T310 - smooth plastic restricted to the screen area, other parts use standard ABS scratch resistant plastic.

T300 - slider and joystick too easy to move. When answering a call I often accidentally move the slider and hang up the call or move the joystick and answer the call before the phone is even out of my pocket.
T310 - slider size reduced and flush to the surface of the phone. It might be a problem if you use the slider to shift letters though... the joystick is also changed, but I don't know if it works differently.

T300 - creaking covers, but this might be because my T300 was used, and the previous owner could've tried to remove the cover by forcing the edges.
T310 - no creaking

T300 - small option and clear keys are harder to press
T310 - buttons are all equal sized

However, I feel the slanted edges of the T310 is harder to hold when talking, but I haven't use the T310 extensively enough yet to feel a difference. I might be getting a T310 next week then I can compare it side by side with my T300. (Currently trying to decide whether to get the T310 or get a Nokia 6610.)

Sorry for the long post.

P.S. What currency? Here in southeast Asia I can get the T310 for about $210 USD with the camera. My T300 was bought last month for $175 USD used, without camera.

The T310 is supposed to be faster operating software. Improved Polyphonic Ringtones (32). Data Capable extending the use of RS232/USB Cables.

Sorry, I don't own the T310 yet, so I can't say how fast the software is. Will most likely buy the T310 (over the Nokia 6610) before the weekend...

BTW, 32 polyphonic is really just hype. I have a Roland Sound Canvas SC-55mkII which is the de facto standard for musicians, and that only has 24 polyphony.

32 voice polyphone is a hype for music, but maybe required for games???

Quality of the wavetable instruments, and timbre control is more important in my books. I have a T300, and although a little quiet, its music QUALITY is by far the best I have seen on a phone, especially one so "cheap". It even beats my P800 by a very long shot. (I have a Yamaha PSR290keyboard, so i am comparing it with a decent Synth!). I can only assume the T310 shoudl be louder, and maybe more clearer.

I dunno about the software versions, but from what i hear they have achieve parity. But rememeber if you get a T300 u may end up with older software, forcing u to get it updated, whereas with a T310 will have the latest possible (being a newer phone), adn there is a couple of improvements on newr software (Slightly more prominent SMS alerts, slightly faster menus)

Its your call.

Agreed on the musical quality. I have MIDI tunes that are designed on the Sound Canvas and never sounds good anywhere else sound perfectly fine on the T300. I suspect that Sony Ericsson might have licensed samples from Roland, but the polyphonic whitepaper doesn't mention anything.

I bought the T310 (brand new) from Orange Hong Kong for US$193 without camera. The T310 looks not as thick as T300. Lighter too.

BTW, T310 has some minor software bugs, such as wrong battery gauge after restart (bug fix so far is: do not turn the phone off, or fully charge the phone after turning it on). However, I think it is still better than T300.

@ janahan&fric :thanks again for ur posts! I was betting on better Sw and louder polies that's why i am sure i am gonna take the t310 instead of t300. The camera...i just don't need it ...yet, maybe later. And yes, i also want the t310 for the sw updates and i hope faster sw.
@ xwaiz: can u pls tell me ur sw version? I don't know how can u find it but i bet it's...easy Otehr than that? What's the battery life? Does the menu move fast? Pls read my pots above, if u have the time!thanks!

@xwaiz : The wrong battery gauge is a ... feature. SE phones both measure the voltage and have a timer. That's why the battery meter will decrease daily and give an accurate measure of use. This is unlike other brands that only measure the voltage, so might show full battery for 2-3 days, then quickly run down.

Own both the T300 and T310 now
Almost everything is mentioned above so not much for me to make a standing here

Anyway what i wanted to add
The T310 undoubtly provides louder volume while running its ringtone, as many of us here said that SE had modified and upgraded the speaker (in terms of volume output) from the T300 to T310, but as to what i had tested yesterday, i took off the front cover of my T300 and started playing some ringtones, and WA LA! The volume is actually similiar to what i get from my T310. Well...if u look carefully at the T310, u'll find a horizontal slit exposing the T310 speaker directly to the external environment whereas in T300, the front cover covers up the speaker, therefore reducing the the desibels b4 reaching our ears
So my conclusion, SE did some modification to the design of the phone not to the speakers for louder volume.
Anyhow the most important thing is, it IS louder when it reaches our ears, so posted this up just for interest sake

just my 2 cents

@FRiC and @701: The battery indicator is a bug if it is measuring voltage (30% full will become 90% full after restart). It is still a bug if it is measuring time of use (shows 90% full instead of 100%). Well, bug = feature, always an perfect excuse.

The software version on my T310 is R1F. The latest version is R1G. People said there is no diff for the two versions

After a full charge, it lasts about 4 days (not frequently used - 30 minutes talk time + 1 hour playing/testing with menu, games, wallpapers, sounds).

The menu speed is acceptable. In the menu is pretty smooth. But takes about half of a second to switch from standby mode to menu. I think it is because it needs to turn on the backlight then go into menu.

The slowness is on calling/receiving call. It takes about 1 to 2 second.

Thanks! Indeed they've never got it right with the battery thing.I mean every manufaturer has the same problem since u can't always measure exactly how much energy there is left. Maybe later thru some other method...i don't really mind as long as i don't restart my phone all the time. I don't know what's with the slowness, this never changes on any SE (ericsson) phone...whatta hell?:( It's really annoying!
