Today I noticed that in the software version,after the IMEI number, there lists HR FR EFR.
I am guessing that this referrs to the half-rate, full-rate, and enhanced full-rate codecs that the phone may use to transmit.
When using a Nokia handset, I know that it is possible to specify which is used by pressing in a special code.
Changing this setting will allow you to either get better battery life or better voice quality.
Does anybody know if it is possible to change this setting on a T68? |

No, it's not possible, the phone switches automatically to the best possible speech codec.
Anyhow -- battery standby time saving is something of an urban legend, since it's only about 5 per cent, but of *talk time* only, of course, not of overall standby time.
