I've got mine software upgraded at DVH in Wimbledon no problem. What's Orange got to do with it?

I had same situation.
As far as I understand. Both Orange & SE have said I can have my P800 Orange brand upgraded at a SE Service Centre. There isn't one in my area so I have sent it off to Celestica to be done with the 10 day turn around (should be back Fri or Mon/Tue). Ceslestica told me there are slightly different versions of the Firmware but that one exists for Orange. CPW (my local) said they do not have to go on doing Orange Brand phones yet.
I previously had my T68 updated at Celestica with no problems just the Max. 10 day wait & ~£4 Royal Mail Special Delivery costs.
I'll leave feedback on whats installed when I get it back. |

Same situation happened with T68 on Orange at CPW when it first came out. They wouldn't touch them.
Think thet will be doing P800's but situation is confusing so I sent mine to Celestica. Back to using my T68 so I can do without mine for 10 days. |

THE SITUATION IS THIS.. (and i work for O so i should know..)
IF you have your O branded p800 reflashed with the update it WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR CARE/WARRANTY with us (if you have taken it out with us)
BUT any replacement handset you get from us will have our latest version installed, which probably means that youwill have to get it flashed again.
This is until we test/approve/jiggle about with it then all our stock gets flashed.
The difference between THIS update and the t68-t68i update is that no new Network facilities are added (as MMS was added with the t68i update).
AFAIK the r2d just means the phone is more stable.
RossK
PS p800s are still NOT available for O staff. well, you can order one. but it will take 2 months to be fulfilled.
count yourselves lucky, john Q public.

Only solution for you seems to be a trip to SE Service Centre or patience for CPW to be geared up for it |
