I have a T39m and am ABLE to make a bluetooth connection to my computer.
I have been trying for a long time, with no success, to conntect via a dial-up connection to an ISP with my phone as a simple modem. (I have also tried connecting via the internal settings on the phone itself to connect to my POP mailbox with no success.) I have accounts at Covad, Earthlink, as well as a CSD account with T-Mobile. None of them work.
The phone will dial the ISP, but never connect. I have checked all of the obvious things like password, account name, etc. It will just dial, say "verifying" and than say something about unable to connect. I have a feeling that this is something of a protocol handshake problem.
Is there a special access number that I should be calling for DUN with these various carriers? Do I need an access number that supports ISDN? Isn't this considered a basic analog modem connection? Is there something I should be changing on the connection speed either on my computer's DUN set-up box or on the phone itself?
My GPRS WAP service through T-Mobile works fine on the phone, however I will be overseas and don't know the accessability of that GPRS network while roming internationally. I can also use my computer bluetooth connection with DUN and use the *99***# setting which also works fine. I would like to have the backup DUN connection available if I need to. (I know that it will be slow, but it will be better than nothing.)
This is not a bluetooth issue, it is something else that I can't seem to figure out. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. |
