today i went to the shop in sydney city in townhall station called Townhall sounds(its an offical sony supplyer) !!! and from them i just found out the reason why the MS Duos are Delayed around some countrys around the world ...... (prob more like the reason y its delayed in Australia) ...
well ... Sony Ericsson has nothing to do with Sony Australia (like its 2 diff departments) ... so the fact is sony had delay on the MS duo to the fact that the duo was for realese the new ms walkman player http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=m8mAj0cL0KyAhnmt4WaKhAgbr75yv8tX88c=?CatalogCategoryID=D%2eQKC0%2eNrFEAAAD0gK0llbTD&ProductID=uHEKC0%2eNYuUAAAD0qwUllbTI&Dept=pa which is set for realese next month in Aus !!!! .. so this is the whole point y MS Duo is late on there realses in australia for that mater .. and maybe the same reason around some countrys of the world !!!!! now why cant SE just realese the Duo them selves is the fact that the Duo is a Sony product ...... i hope ppl understand this .....

Might also be because as soon as the 128MB become readily available nobody will want to buy the 64MB ones (must be loads in the supply chain)

Some suppliers are still short on 64mb Duo's it seems! No doubt everyone wants the 128mb's though.
I was lucky enough to have ordered 10 a while back, Ive got 5 remaining on Ebay! I would be happy to end an auction early and sell a little cheaper to anyone who wants to buy direct however.
Anyone know when the 256mb Duo's are expected to be released? |

It has nothing to do with the walkman, Duo's in Australia have been around for a few months, just not the 128mb ones.
You are right Sony Au and SE are 2 different companies, and that store in Town Hall has no idea what they are on about.
There are several places in AU where the Duo can be bought, the reason the 128mb card is not here is there is a world wide shortage, and like the phone itself AU is late getting them. |

We will almost certainly never see a 256MB Memory Stick Duo.
A limitation in the original Memory Stick design limits it to 128MB. It is impossible to manufacture a 256MB Memory Stick.
Sony have addressed this limitation in two ways. They have designed a 256 Memory Stick with a "memory select" function. This is basically two separate 128MB Memory Sticks in a single Memory Stick package. You flip a little switch to change between the two. They have also designed a new "Memory Stick Pro" format that can go far beyond 128MB, but it is incompatible with the old Memory Stick format.
The Memory Stick Duo is essentially identical to the Memory Stick, except physically smaller. It has the same design flaws that limit it to 128MB capacity. |

Opinion's nothing to do with it.

Memory Stick media can be used in Memory Stick Pro devices. Memory Stick Pro media can *not* be used in Memory Stick devices.
It might be possible in the future for Sony Ericsson to add Memory Stick Pro support to the P800 via a firmware upgrade, but at the moment the P800 cannot use Memory Stick Pro cards. |
