Cannot get PC Suite installed with W2K SP3 ??? |

Trying to install pc suite of my new P800 on my PC with Win2000 SP3.
NO way! After starting the install wizard I only get an error message, saying "you have an install or an uninstall without completing: Reboot your pc first and then try again"
I DO not have anything pending, and even if a reboot i get the same message.?????
SonyEricsson Support gives no answer (Easter holyday i suppose) but there I am, stuck!
Any help please!
(I have downloaded the most recent pc suite yesterday but same problem)
(I have tried to install pc suite for the T68i, just to try and that goes well. Of course it doesn't recognize the p800, but it installs)

You have to clean the registry. I had the same problem under W2K SP2. Try deleting everything under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Ericsson" and also under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sony Ericsson". If you have installed something else from SE, you should take care of what items you are deleting.

Thank you for trying, but I don't have any of those keys in the register.
I haven't had any software of sonyericsson installed, never.
This is my first SE phone and after 6 perfect Nokias, I begin thinking I should have stayed with them............

are u using the pc suite of the disc or the later one of the SE website? u should use the later one as the disc one is no good

I am using the latest version from the website with same bad result as the cd that came with the phone. |

Have installed cradle and looked at /System
shows:
USB = sems dss-20 syncstation "functioning well"
COM= same ................................................... on COM 6
Version driver = 1.0.2115.0
Is this of any help to give more info for my problem?

im not sure what the problem is tbh? have u tried shutting down all other running programs inc virus checker? i know mcafee can cause problems if ur using it. im using win2k pro without any sp's on and so far so good

The problem is as I explained in the first post of this thread, that I cannot install de pc suite of the p800 on my pc.
I have closed all running progs. and checked in Ctrl/Alt/Sup - Task administrator.
I have even tried to reboot in secure mode and then install.
Always same error: " You have another install or unistall pending; reboot to finish and retry"
Now I have installed the cradle first (new try) and
I have Outlook 2002 installed too.
NO way. Just doesn't want to install.
I have send mail to SE but nothing for now.
Will get back to shop tuesday to complain, but? |

there s a record left of ur last unfinishd instalatn. Try this, boot up (as administrator) -> disable all runing background programs -> luk at the processes tab if ur instaler s runing, f its runing, termin8 the proces then instal. Else,u cn try this also,dwnload regclean fr0m microsoft.c0m,run it on ur pc,reboot,instal. Win 2k s knda 4 tech-geeks bt it d m0st stable n secure windows:-)

Suppose NPROTECT is my Norton Antivirus. I have disabled it, but i cannot exit it totally.
2) Miscrosoft says RegClean no longer available.
However, I have RegHealer and have run that to clean register.
Still same problem.

You have said you've had Nokia's before, if you've had a 7650 its PC Suite software will interfere and stop your install as both Nokia & SE use epocs Mrouter software... |
