P800 R2A Upgrade |

ok everyone, just got my P8 upgraded to R2A. (was done a Smartnet, for those of you in the PH). upgrade took about 90 minutes, excluding waiting in line because there was no line when i got there!
backed up phone before upgrade then restored it when i got home. the only hitch was that i had to re-enter my email account settings, otherwise no problems at all.
initial observations are:
upgrade uses up an additional 7% or so of phone memory
full-screen pix and video work as advertised so absolutely no need for 3rd party full-screen pix app. video was a bit choppy on full screen tho. maybe i should re-convert my video files.
as mentioned somewhere previously, multiple video/pic files can now be selected at once for deletion. also sms delivery reports now available. picture thumbnails also appear to be a bit bigger.
have yet to try the cam but it has night mode, shutter mute, delay timer and picture freeze timer
default screensaver displays some funky dancing cubes but only uses up top section of the screen
still have to test BT, but version is R5A and hopefully will be as stable as T68 BT
that's it for now. will post more after more fiddling with the phone!

Hi i am wondering if can you control the audio player in filp closed mode. I read someway that it is a new feature with this new firmware, after hearing that some lucky people have the R2A/D/G firmware no one has said anything about. If anyone can put my mind to rest please do.
Thanks. |

Just phoned CarphoneWharehouse Service point in my area who have the upgrade but not authorised to do the upgrade to Orange branded phones (not that farce again!!!).
Phoned Orange and they say not a problem as far as they are concerned. Looks like I will have to send off to Celestica |
