Hi,

I know there's an application for PC to convert .amr files from the sound recorder application on the 68i to .wav files.
Does anybody know if there's any application or solution to do this on a macintosh?

thanx in advance.

Alex

yeah.
Still no info.
I searched the web extensively but couldn't find anything but some rumors about a codec for Real Player in the works(old new though)
I hope somebody can shed some light on this.

Take care,

Hi,

How can you convert .amr files to .wav? I'd like to know. And as to conversions in Macs, you might be able to find a Mac version of the same program to convert .amr files to .wav files for Windows, if you see what I mean.

Or is the program compatible for Macs as well? Have you tried?

Thanks.

Hello there
I did some web searh....and that´s what I have found so far. At the monent there is no codec AMR for mac or a any converter program to wav or mp3. However, there is some hope I read on http://playbacktime.com/archives/000231.html, (january 10) the following:

Also, although Apple had promised 3GPP-compliant MPEG-4 support before the end of 2002 and demonstrated content (presumably encoded with QuickTime) playing on a 3GPP-compliant phone at Macworld, I’ve confirmed that QuickTime 6.1 does not support playing or encoding 3GPP-compliant MPEG-4. An Apple representative told Ben that they were forced to delay 3GPP support because their AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) speech codec wasn’t ready yet.

So maybe we will be able to listem amr recordings with quicktime some time soon

Ed

I've figured it out now!!

Download Quicktime 6.3 and then go to this website:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/3gpp/

Download the components there, restart your Mac and blast away! It works!

Looks like it only can read. You can't convert .wav files to .amr though! That sucks. I've tried renaming the files, reconverting the files... nothing worked.

Oh well, at least I can listen to my clips I have on the cellphone now.
