According to a nice chap at SonyEricsson uk:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your email regarding the Sony Ericsson T68i.
Below is a general guide detailing the steps that need to be taken in order
to get XTND Connect to detect your handset during synchronization with MS
Outlook. Due to there being various Bluetooth devices on the market with
different software, certain steps may vary depending on the software that
you are running.
Step 1. Pairing the Phone with the PC
On the Phone, Goto Extras or Connect (T68), Bluetooth then Discoverable
(If this is not selectable, goto Operation Mode and then select ON)
On the PC, Open the Bluetooth Neighbourhood then press F5
It should detect 1 device and place an icon on the Bluetooth Neighbourhood
On the Phone, Goto Extras or Connect (T68), Bluetooth, Paired Devices, Add
Device and then Phone Accepts
It should now display Ready to Pair on the Screen of the handset
On the PC, Double click on the Phone Icon.
On the Phone, it should display the Name of the laptop and ask "Add to
paired Devices?"
Click yes on the Phone and then enter a passkey (this can be any numerical
Value e.g. 1111)
You will then be prompted to enter the Same Passkey on the PC
On the Phone, accept the Nametag and then click NO, 4 times.
Step 2. Configuring the Bluetooth Virtual Com port
Goto Control Panel then Bluetooth Configuration,.
Highlight the Com 7 and tick the Serial Port from the right hand section,
also untick any other options
(Note ! if com 7 is not listed either press add to create a new com port or
just select a different Bluetooth virtual port number from the left hand
side)
Click OK and Now Restart the PC
Once restarted you will have a Com 7 listed in the Bluetooth Neighbourhood
Software
Step 3. Assigning a Com Port
Before attempting a connection, the Serial port on the Phone needs to be
linked with the Virtual Bluetooth Com port
This needs to be done every time the Phone goes out of range or the pc is
booted up
Open the Bluetooth Neighbourhood software
Double click on the Icon for the pairing with the phone
Double click on the Serial Icon the Com port set in Step 2 will now be
linked to the Phone
Note. The Bluetooth Software needs to be open and the last procedure needs
to have been done to allow dialup connections.
Step 4. Setting up For Syncronization with XTND Connect
Goto Control Panel, then Phone Monitor Options,
Select Com Ports and ensure that only Com x is enabled and reserved is NO
(where x is he com port number stated in Step 2)
Disable any other ports and set reserved to NO
If this is the First time the phone has been connected to the PC a Phone
Connection Wizard will appear.
Fill in all fields, once finished your phone is ready to sync by clicking on
the XTND Connect Icon the the System Tray (bottom Right Corner of windows)
or using the sync button located on the toolbar in Outlook
Yours Sincerely
Sony Ericsson Data Support
This actually works! I have tried it and seen it with my own eyes!
(I just have to get my Palm TT to do the same, but that's another story) | |

Well, it worked...3 times. Then it just stopped and I can't get ANYTHING to work, even though my BT adapter and phone recognize each-other... I hate bluetooth. |

Not so in my experience. I use the MSI6967 adapter and all i have to do is turn on bluetooth then use whatever software that I want to use with the phone (ie FMA, or the phone's modem for internet connection, or do a synch)
I only had to pair the phone, discover the services, and that's it. No more tweaking in the network neighborhood.

First thanks for this little bit of info it was just what I needed to link xtend via bluetooth.
Second I've gotten better results by actually openning up more ports both in the phone monitor and in the bluetooth app. I have two open in local service and two in client applications. Before I did that I could connect intermittenly but now it connects flawlessly everytime.
Third, in I my bluetooth app if I set the local service to startup automatically then I don't have to do anything at all to sync expect tell xtend to start the sync, or set it to automatic and it starts as soon as my phone is in range.

The "Phone Connection Wizard" never appears for me. It never seems to me like the software ever tries to find the phone. Is there any way to force XTNDConnect to use a specific COM port? |

xtndConnect uses MPM. Go to start>settings>control panel>phone monitor option

If it wasn't obvious from what I quoted before, I was already there. I followed the instructions above and absolutlely nothing happens. From what the original author said, some kind of "Phone Connection Wizard" should appear after I set the COM port to enabled/reserved. It doesn't happen. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc., etc., etc.
