ok please people dont listen to this RUBBISH about it:
1. being uiq 2.1
2. having to pay for it (uk)

this is rubbish and the update will be free just like the t68 updates are

You probably know all this but the forum a My Symbian has a post which is full of bs.

cheers

According to mobil.se there will be a UIQ 2.1 with themes/skins, better mp4/mp3/camera/pic quality, improved BT, and some bug fixes.

It will be possible to upgrade your "old" p800, the upgrade will most likely be free.

I think anyone really minds paying. I just reckon some people have had a few problems with their P800s, and they feel paying for an upgrade is taking the piss by SE.

I took my p800 to a registered service point today to get the software updated. The phone software version is STILL R1D, the Organiser version went up to R1G05 and the CDA version is still R2A04. They downloaded the software from a server in sweden oe somewhere so how are people getting an R2* phone software update? Do we need to go somewhere special? Oh yeah and the upgrade should be free as long as the phone is in warranty mine was.

all firmware updates are free within the first year of buying your SE handset. FULL STOP!

if you have had your P800 for more then a year you will have to pay

1) We all know this. Nobody at My-Symbian claims it to be UIQ 2.1.

2) One person over at My-Symbian claims that this upgrade will cost because it is infact a major update and not just a bug-fix. We will not know this for sure until this update is due for release(which should be any day now), but it is entirely possible that we would have to pay for it. I don't see the big deal anyway, it wouldn't cost much, and it is not like you are forced to upgrade to R2x.

Anyways, I would take the word of that guy at My-Symbian over yours any day! If I'm not confusing you with someone else, I can clearly recollect you spreading various bogus rumours in this forum for ages now. Like the one about a Nokia 7650i being released, of which you claimed to have this and that contact, bla bla bla... As far as I'm concerned you're the one that's full of sh!t!

somebody explain the terms they use describing the versions?

my phones runs the followings:
PDA R1C02
Phone R1B
CDA R1B02
BT R2C

so let us take a moment here..

1 - Is the R1C newer than R1B or is it the other way around.
2 - can the upgrade be done at home using the hotsync, if not.. why.

I feel that some day, there will be a college to teach these stuff to ignorant consumers, what can I say, we have to catch up with those people at SE.
