Ok, So now before I start, dont slate me right away..
I know the p800 is not a gaming device.. not for everyone. ya ya ya. but it does seem to be competing in the 3650/7650 arena. The p800 is great but I think it lacks in the gaming area simply due to the layout of the keys.. ie touch screen and difficult to use hard buttons for gaming. What I would like to know is, would the chatboard fit the p800 or is it possible for an after market product to be made that would improve this problem. Anyone have any contructive thoughts.....

I think there are 3 must have accessories for the P800 in this order.
1. the the ericsson chatboard.
2. the MS Duo TV Tuner
3. the MS Duo Wireless lan card.
the chatboard will turn the p800 into the ultimate gaming machine, perhaps even rivalling the N-Gage when it finally gets release.

For a few seconds a read MS as Microsoft... but I'm ok now.
I agree, they would be some excellent attachments. However, a small bluetooth qwerty keyboard would also be nice. |

The chatboard is not combatible with the P800 and curently there is no joystick or something for it. Do a search maybe you will find something!

Regarding the addon keyboard for P800, there's a product out there ( can't recall the name) that is used as a base for PDA such as pocket pcs. I read somewhere (before the release of P800) that the same company will port the same keyboard addon for P800.

Hey guys I just thought of something last night if the crappy GBA can play street fighter with such quality what is stopping developers from porting such great titles like street fighter and Mortal Kombat 2 to the p800 imagine it guys, hooking on a chatboard (after it has been made compatible with a firmware upgrade, Please SE) and connecting to annother p800 and having a VS. match or hooking up over GPRS and play a quick game of Final Fantasy Online (obviously with less graphics), and before I get the "oh no it can't be done" guys posting if you think about it, it is not only possible but quite easy for SE to do, if they ship games on ROM based MS Duo's the large games can fit nicely, just swap out the cartridge and hey presto who needs Nokia N-gage. |

Going back to a previous post above, the TV tuner sounds awesome. I did see (on a chinese site so only saw the pictures!) a modified SE P800 which had a new battery case cover that had a slot for a full-size memory stick! Obviously made the thing look rather obese, but still...
I'm assuming that the TV tuner is not going to work 'straight out of the box', but will some guru programmers out there ever be able to make it work? What would be involved and are there any initial show-stopping technical issues that anyone can think of? |

forget the T.V. tuner i want sky built in and a duo romote contrule when not in use just slips in the duo port nice a?
If u wanted to make a T.V. duo a hole new duo would have to be made (i can see it sticking out the side for reception) and then software that would be installed on in built memory to use the tuner.
I think it would take alot of people to do this, but i know id buy it even if it was £100

2 yusufl...
I agree with what your saying about porting titles. TombRaider would be a prime example. They're porting the 3d version to the n-gage and the pocketPC has a version thats just way cool. Where as the GBA can only manage a crappy 2D platformer with everyone's favourite amply breasted heroine. The game is basically PSone standard so think of a PSone game and you should be able to do a port. (no GTA3 then)
Once the majors publishers/distrbution houses start to see a profit of the tenative toe that some of them are dipping in the water then they'll start making an effort to port the games. Especially since they can save on distribution costs if you download the games. Of course we can always start firing odf
About your point of using GPRS to play wireless opponents. There's a little thing called latency that gets in the way of that. By the time you've sent the data to the other guy's phone he's moved and vice versa so you'll never get any 1st person shooter going, something more paced and staid but certainly not hectic.
I'd love a TV tuner as well. would kill the battery and would be a pain in the arse since i'd only watch it on the train. I'd be re-tuning every ten minutes. and lose reception in the tunnels. Better off using showshifter and recording last nights prime time shows etc. and whacking them on a Duo in mp4. |

i was watching some game review programe, and they showed the nokia n-gage and the new 3300 (the N-gage's upgrade) with the game "pandemonium" which was one of the first 3D games out on the PS1 (i liket the game anyways)
and they also said that the people who had bought the 3650 could get software to play the N-gage games since they both have the MMC card slots which the N-gage will store its games... so i think i may get a 3650 simply because id rather have a phone that takes video with a built in camara then haveing to get the N-gage which has a pop-port and haveing to carry around my old 7210's HS-1C Pop-Port camara (i found it very anoying but i was only testing it out and soon went back to my T68i and then got my P800)
one thing i am wondering about though, how much will the games cost i mean if u want a java game on CD* they cost about £10 and there only 2D and these games are PS1 games so do u think they will cost £39.99 like the old PS1 games did cost before it got out dated by its brother the PS2?

You right about the graphics of p800 it's basicly a sp1 I mean look at the game intersteller flames for p800 it's great but because of space issues the game just sort of repeats itself with more enemies on screen at once. but if they shipped games on MS DUO's they could fit huge titles like tomb raider and the like, hey perhaps even Metal Gear :-}. what you were saying about the dial-up I have to disagree man, admittedly on GPRS there could be latency but if you use HSCSD you could potentially dial into a server justlike pc users and there should be no problem I mean if people with 33.6 modems can play online games why not i'd be perfect for RTS games or RPG's, and remember a while ago the 'experts' were saying that it would be impossible to play a fighting game online because of latency, but look the new online street fighter is being hailed as gaming marvel already, cheers, |
