Does this sound familiar to anyone? I installed mobiPocket reader on my beloved P800. Two problems,... I can't get rid of the icons in my "beamed" box (bluetooth transfer) and I don't believe the actual files are there, just the icons. Also, I can not seem to control where the e-books live on my device or external card. I am not given any options to save them and as to where to save them. Saved one, but that was by accident.

Help please!

TIA

Exactly the same problem!!! Once a book is beamed, I open it from the message app and start to view it in mobipocket reader. But from this app, if I go to library, I don't see my book. Also, if I start reading a book jus after beaming it, everything is fine, can switch between apps and go back to mobipocket reader to continue reading but, if I turn off the phone and back on, the book don't show up...

I assume this is for books beamed from another phone. To beam a book from the PC, use the 'Synchronize to my PDA' option within the PC software, and it will place it in the Library folder on the same drive as the reader. If you want to move it between drives, the Pro version lets you do this by clicking on the picture of the book, and asking it to move it. If you have the standard version, then you could use the file manager to move the book across.

Hope that helps,

Nick

Free version of MPReader does have memory manager. That's why I sprung for the pro version. Don't beam the books...use the PC sync app.

Huh? I didn't understand the last part of your message? Are you looking for a File Manager that installs ON the P800? There is one, it's freeware from SonyEricsson... just look for it in my-symbian.com

Yeah Jimmy, I am on a MAC too. Shouldn't really be a problem though. Also, I've tried using File Manager but can not find the files. Even starnger, I think. I know they are no longer there from the memory reading, but I can not get rid of the icons....

I'm emailiong back and forth with MobiPocket right now.

To Sweet Heart:
This program is an e-book reader. Check it on mobipocket.com where you can download the file and buy books.

To JPLACSON:
Thank you, I'm going to my-symbian to look for that program..Sorry for the confusion but you've understood me...a file manager that authorise you to check/move file around from the P800 and not from a PC.

To EHAUS:
I will try one or two things and keep you posted if successfull. Can you keep me posted on the help Mobipocket will provide you whit (if any!)

sounds like you guys need to familiarize yourselves with the P800's file manager (you can download it from my-symbian).

You need to find where the beamed book files are located (sounds like a bit of a search is needed) and move them to the folder where mobipocket expects to find it.

Yes, the books can be sent by email. Unfortunately, for books that were bought from Mobipocket, you can't open/read them (the ones that you didn't buy) with your Reader because the books are locked to the PID# of your phone which is specific to your phone only. However, you can read "free" books (doc files) that can be downloaded from www.memoware.com

The books are stored in x:\Library where x is the relevant drive letter. It would make far more sense if they were in Media Files\documents\mobipocket, since that way they would be visible to the main file manager. Oh well...

Does anyone have support contact details for mobipocket by the way? There's no support email address on the website, only endless FAQs which don't answer the queries I have. FAQs are a good thing of course, but they should be backed up by real people.

Gang,

Here is what I received this morning from MobiPocket:

We have improved the P800 reader last week on the "beaming" point :
- now you can open the file again and again from the beaming application, no
problem.
- when opening a book from any message (beamed, mailed...), the book is
moved to the library automatically just letting a link in place of the
original book file so that the book is still readable from your message,
while managed by Mobipocket Reader in its own directory.

we are preparing the 4.6 version of reader which will contain this fix, I
post the fixed reader under:
http://www.mobipocket.com/soft/p800/uiqreader_us.sis until the 4.6 is
officially released. for other supported languages replace _us by _fr
(french),_de (german),_es (spanish).

some interesting new feature: support of Unicode books (japanese, chinese,
russian... characters supported when good font is installed)

feel free to post this mail on the forum.

I still can not get rid opf the links/icons in my "Beamed" box. This is really annoying. Looks like I have to borrow a PC, back up my internal memory (why one can't back up to the card is beyond me) do a master reset and then restore. A long way to go just to get rid if sopme icons.

Hello,
yesterday night, after downloading File Manager from my symbia, I manage to have mobipocket working. Had to move the .prc file (the book) from where it is store (have to look for it deping on receiving it by mail, bt, infra-red...) and move it to the mobipocket folder netx to the app. It is not working fine expect that when I turn off the phone and restart it, Mobipocket reader does not remember where I was inthe book and restart it at the first page. Will try that link you've provided us with.
thanks, Jules
