MMS upgrade in England |

I am desperate to get this upgrade... I have been calling everywhere I can to find info on it. This is what I have found out so far.
R's electrics, the Service Center that upgraded my phone from R1B to R2b (great service) claim that it is the FW being released in march is totally rumour, just some people on the internet making stuff up... They DO think it exists, but it that it will not come to england for another few months 
HOWEVER!
DVH Communications claim that they will be getting a new release of the firmware for the T68 tomorrow (thursday). The claim it is version R1D and has MMS and all of the upgrades that have been discuss here.
I am not so sure about this though... R's electrics is a place I trust, when I went there, they knew exactly what I wanted, and they did it quickly and efficiently. They clearly knew what they were talking about when I talked about the upgrades with them. It is a small store with people in it who seem to know what they are doing.
Where as DVH communications is a much bigger store. They clearly have loads of staff etc. etc. most of whom do not even know what a T68 is... The lady I spoke to was very eager for me to physically go down to the store tomorrow to get the upgrade, she said it like 5 times during out 30 second conversation. DVH, when I rang them trying to get my R2B upgrade, were very inefficient, and I was told that I would have to wait possibly days to get my phone upgraded....pathetic....
I do not really know WHAT is going on...
Everyone give DVH a ring tomorrow to find out if they really do have it:

I have used DVH many times before. They are not a huge company; they occupy a quite large building on an industrial estate, but they only have one receptionist and a few tech boys.
They have alwyas been very fast and efficient with me.
I rang them up this morning too, they seemed to have had a lot of calls from people who got the number here 
They say they will be able to upgrade to R1D either this afternoon or tomorrow morning |

i was there early this morning at 9am and upgraded my handset. When i got it back and checked the SW it was R2B.In a very dissappointed state i told the receptionist and she ask the tech guys wat was wrong.They told her that the SW did not work and i had to contact Ericsson! |

I assume you are the guy with short dark hair and the Nike bag who came in just after me this morning?
The receptionist said the same thing to me when I came back to pick my phone up (you had left by then). I questioned why I had to send the phone back to Ericsson and she went off to ask the tech guys and came back and said that they were having problems downloading the software from the Ericsson website. Doesn't sound like a handset problem to me. |

Ok fokes here the deal!
I have just spoke to SE (again!), the T68i was released in the UK today but is not yet avaiable in the shops! It will be coming out in the second quarter of 2002. As for the s/w upgrade of the T68, there deffo is one to make our phones MMS but the upgrade will only be issued when the T68i has gone on general release in the UK. So we are looking at a couple of months before we are getting the new s/w here in England. I know thats what you didn't want to hear bt it's true!

R3a would indicate a modification to the existing sw....we want to have a new software with new functions....revisions will be treated in the future for the mms sw also....:-)

Not good if we dont see the new sw soon!!
Why do we have to wait soo long?? Poss of the release date of the t68i? damn them!!

Well if m_taylor is right, I’m not really that bothered to tell you the truth. For starters I think only Vodaphone supports or nearly support MMS at the moment. Secondly, your not really gonna be able to exploit the full features of MMS until your mates have MMS capable phones as well.

Convergence Telecom isnt any good. Dont 'flash' 68's. What a pile of poop this is.
Anyone in the uk actually got the upgrade then from DVH?....noooo
