hi folks,
just been reading this article : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/2916353.stm
And it highlights all the issues regarding the use of camera phone technology. Its an intresting read..
So whats your views on camera phones ? Has anyone ever used one 'against' you in anyway? or just wish someone hadn't snapped something?

whats all the fuss about? there are camera's that are smaller and more discrete if you wished to do such a thing...
personally, i think its just another feature that im never really gunna use on my phone... still, its nice to know that you have a camera on hand.... so im glad that we are seeing more phones with them.
i dont agree that having a camera will make the new line of phones more bulky, take a look at the t610.... |

hmm... i guess you have a point...... but then thinking that way...do we really need a colour screen on phones?.... without them they will use less power, so battery's can be smaller and the overall phone will get smaller and weight less...
so, back to what i said... not needed but a nice little bonus to have.... kinda like the 5.1 setup on my pc!! |

Hopefully "picture messaging" will be the SMS story all over again. The point of it is to increase bandwidth-usage so operators increase revenues and suppliers sell more equipment.
Ultimately we're using less of "phones" and more of "multimedia handsets". These will have more capabilities than just taking small pictures; music playback, video-capture, PDA-functionality. P800 is the fore-runner and Siemens SX-1 is a good example. And in a couple of years most handsets will be 3G.
I like it anyway.
The question is not so much about whether camera+phone is a good combo because everyone would agree it is. It might seem odd to some at this point in time (as SMS did back in the early nineties) but ultimately it is the way to go.

i like it cuz it's at hand.I still dont have a camera phone and i won't have one for the moment as the quality sucks big time.I mean, what good is to have a camera when u can't definde who's in it? lol
But anyway, there r some phones suporting some good ones like samsung and siemens and it's good to have one sometimes.I'll get a camphone when cheaper;)

how small do you want ur phone to be? i mean the phones now are really small. they r not bulky (unless u look at the 'brick'). i hope phones wun get smaller...if they do, im not going to buy them. what's the use with smaller stuff, the buttons are harder to press

Good or bad for what? They can't be concidered as camera replacement...Only the use is taking pics of your friends to add them to a phonebook (as for me) and taking some pics which doesn't need high quality.
Weight...I don't think that phones with built-in camera are 2 heavy.

Speaking of small phones, did anyone hear recently that a group of medical bods have said that small phones are bad for our fingers?
You never know, big phones could make a comeback!

Better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it. We got into a traffic accident and the camera came in handy.

I must admit, the last time (and only time!) I've had an accident I was lucky I was near home so I could get a camera to pic the scene in order to get the other persons insurance to pay.
If I was further from home, a camera phone would be a lifesaver.

That's right.
When u take a pic and look at it on the phone it's pretty hard to recognize things, sadly, i have not been able to send picture to pc to check it out on a normal screen.
