Hello.
I have a t39m. It is more than a year old and suddenly it gave me a headache. Looses network and shows no network message and eats up a battery like crazy. Every once in a while it gets on a network and I still can make phonecalls but then it looses it again. The rest with phone is fine. I tried my SIM card in a different phone and everything's fine - not a network problem. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Software upgrade?
PS Guys in a store told me it could be something with a chip??? They don't have right equip to fix it.
Didn't send it to the ericsson coz I believe it's going to cost me more than if I buy a new one.

Any thought would be appreciated

Thank you

My step dad's t39m.. just died about 2 months ago. No apparent reason, it didn't seem to have symtops like yours (headache, eating up battery). Just one day it died - no startup anything. Now of course this was a phone which was trasmitting not stop ever since it was bought (he's always on the phone).

We brought it to the dealer, he gave it a new battery, no luck... Just walked out with a t68i bond edition... no probs yet..

it's a hardware fault, so a firmware upgrade will not fix it... and yes, it will cost a bit, you will probably be offered to buy a swap unit...

Hello.
Thank you for your replies.
But all that's happening seems to be really weird for me. This morning I turned it on just to see how it doesn't work but stubborn phone works, no problem so far the whole day. Now I'm waiting when is a time when it decides to freak out on me. I'm getting another one already but I'll keep using this one to see if it's really dead or it was just a "moody day'.

Thank you all.
Has anyone had something similar with t38m?

A friend of mine in Singapore had the worst experience with his T39! It was working fine for 1 1/2 yrs for him, and then about a month back, he decided to upgrade his firmware cos he bought a new HBH 20 blutooth handsfree and encounter some problems with it. So he brought it down to the service centre for the upgrade. An hr later, a lady called him up and told him over the phone that his T39 does not have warranty anymore, thus ask him to verbally agree to it to certify that if anything happens during the upgrade (which she too agrees over the phone that its very rare), SonyEricsson in Singapore will not be responsible for it. Thus he agrees to it and guess what happens next? Another guy called him up sometime later, informing him that his T39 is DEAD after the upgrade, and he has to pay SGD$208 for a replacement transceiver, or something like that! Huh! Spent about SGD$200 buying a brand new HBH-20 and now he has to pay another $208 for a repair that its not his fault!

Very upset, he went down personally and ask to speak to any managers at the service centre. One guy told him there were no managers on that day (its a Saturday) and promises that someone will call him the following week. And guess what? 2 wks went by, still no one from SonyEricsson Singapore called him up!

SonyEricsson will definitely lose their market share in Singapore if such things carries on over here.

Even though I own a T68i and a P800 and have no problems as yet, I am really really concern about reliability of future SonyEricsson's phone, and even worse, the support that we can get, as consumers, who pays for that bloody phone, whom, in another sense, pays for all the employess in SonyEricsson!

Yeah, right.
It is a problem with a hardware. Next day it did the same thing. I just got Nokia 6590i and happy so far. Good reception, nice software, small size - all I need right now. I figured 4 out og 5 times I turn my t39m on it does this thing with a network. Then somehow it stays Ok for as long as it turned on, then if turn it off an on gain it does this funky thing. I'll stick to Nokia and see how it works.

don't really know. What do you type in to get this info? I'll check it for you, wanna sell it soon for parts anyway.
Thank you

PS I found another link about the same no network problem. Seems to be pretty common for t39's. It's just frustrating I didn't know that before I bought it...

Got a t39 2 months ago. After a month, the phone started to restart by itself. Immediately took the phone to the nearest service center. Had the software flashed, so far
so good, no problems. The technician said that it could be due to the 64K sim card did not work with the phone very well. Anyway, I have deactivated the power saving mode just in case and the problem did not reoccur. The version I have is R4A.
