Two days ago, i messed up my 3wk old P800 by replacing the start up movie with my own which had sound. Thus giving me the white screen of death. Tried to find a Service Centre, no luck CPW said they'll send it to SE and will take 2wks before i get it back. Went back to Orange, explained what i did, next morning, got a brand new p800 with box and contents. Now i have two 16MB duo sticks. Gotto praise Orange for offering me a replacement in the first place.

I assume you have Orange Care.

This sort of thing is unprecedented as previous phones aren't really "breakable" by software so I should think Orange decided the easy solution was to replace it.. but yes, very good.

@ k1

how did you manage to get away with only returning the phone? did you have to send it off or did you just bring it in to an orange store and leave the faulty p800 with them? also, did orange send you a new one by mail or did you have pick it up? was there an excess charge?

Orange care will either deliver it by courier or by post!
Courier is their preferred method!

Courier is within 24 hours!

I remember the good old days when it used to be 3 hours i think!

When the courier comes to collect the phone all they expect back is just the phone.

The reason he got the whole package again is because Orange normally supply a repaired one back! When they have a shortage of repaired ones they use new ones!

Normally not. I've returned many a phone under some really weird circumstances with no recourse at all!

Not all of the phones have it!
I had about 4 T68's and only 2 had the logo!

And anyway the couriers don't even check !

yeah what do the couriers care anyways?!? also, you could always deny it and say that the phone never came with the logo. its your word against theirs! customers always right!

I'm not subscribed to orange care or even have handset insurance. I went to CPW and asked for software update since i flashed my t68 to t68i there before. They were bloody useless as usual, all they knew was to get comission of u or something. So went to orange, the sales talked to someone over the phone. Then sent replacement by courier next morning between 9-1. I had the phone unlocked too, so that was worrying that they'd say no. The Orange sales told me to hand back ONLY the handset and charger. The courier man came to my door and gave me a new box, put my handset, charger and cradle in a bag and left. Didn't even take the old box. Funny thing was the courier was a from a 'car rental' company....
