Hi

Just got a p800 but am having problems setting up my email. I have set it up on the phone with the correct settings for pop, smtp etc... but when I try and send an email, it says "Invalid email address in To:, Bcc or CC field".

has this got something to do with the fact I'm on vodafone, my wap provider is mviva and the email account is Tiscali/lineone?

cheers, liam

If this is any help, as with any ISP, if you use another ISP to recieve mail you can send mail back through the ISP, but you have to change the out going SMTP server to the same as the ISP you have dialed into.
ie; if have mail with NTLworld, but dial through Orange to get mail and you wish to reply, then set account like this.
pop server = pop.ntlworld.com
Smtp server = smtp.orange.net

Sent email is then relayed through the local host ISP to your ISP.

so I would assume for vodafone or mviva, although I could not find an smtp server for UK voda,
your POP would be set to your ISP's pop.tiscali.co.uk and you smtp to mailhost.mviva.com or smtp.vodafone.net or smtp.vodafone.co.uk which ever works on your connection. Some ISP don't allow relaying so, you may not be to send unless connected to tiscali.
If you can you don't need to use secure connections, not alot of ISP's do that anyway.

Then you should be able to send email.

Good luck

The SE website (service section) has an excellent automated set-up utility for email, MMS and SMS. Worked in a blink for me on T-Mobile here in the Holland. You shoudl give it a try (requires IE I believe)
