I am receiving my p800 on Monday and had a question about creating "personal" ringtones on the p800... Since you can use a wav as a ringtone is it possible to create a wav of someones name (just a plain voice recording of yourself yelling out your friends name) and then assigning that ringtone to that person, thus giving you "talking" caller ID ? if anyone has tried this and succeeded let me know your thoughts and how is the volume of these "announcements" ?

@skrue
How is the ringtone volume on these recordings ? high enough to hear clearly when the phone is in your pocket ?

actually thinking about it some more, maybe there should just be a talking caller ID software, so when someone calls it just reads out the number of the caller (if that person isn't already configured name wise) does such a software exist ? I know it exists for lots of platforms, but couldn't find it for symbian.

The volume all depends how how loud you record and tell the WAV file to be...for me my rtingtones are VERY loud i can hear them easily from almost anywhere, even over some other sounds

thanx for the info on the ringtones, back to my prev question, does anyone know of any "talking" caller ID software ? that would be a great little app, don't think it would take up space either.

Kaaspad, you don't need any other software. You can do this all with your P800 built in voice recorder. Just record down the person name and then assign it to that person in the contact list.
