I bought a a T68i yesterday and I'm having a strange problem setting up voice commands. I suspect it's a bogus phone, but maybe it's just a buggy operator.

So I got the phone and set up voice commands, made a few calls to test things out, everything worked fine. I did this with a hands free set (and on the h-free profile). I wanted to try things out without the h-free, so I unplugged it. When I went to settings/voice control/voice dialing, instead of getting an "on / off" selection as I expected, I get a 3 item menu: 1: Off, 2: Edit Names, 3: Number types. Selecting the 1st option (to try and turn voice dialing on), the menu goes away and I'm back to the voice control menu. When I select "voice dialing" a second time, I NOW get the two item "On / Off" menu I expect. I select on and get the menu asking if I want to change any of the location words. I say "no" there (or change some of the settings..) and I'm back to the voice control menu. Selecting "voice dialing" again, and I'm back to step 1: a 3 item menu, with item 1 being "off".

I can't seem to get out of this state, even though I had it working once. I reset the phone, pull the sim card, pull the battery.. as back to scratch as I can get it and I still have the same problem. No matter what I do, I can't get "voice dialing" to stay on. I have the same behavior with the other voice command options as well: redial and answer.

More weirdness... I just went to the answer option to verify my observations, and now the phone tells me that voice command memory is full! But when I go to the erase voice command memory option, it tells me I have no voice commands stored!

So do I have a bad phone? Or is voice command just horribly buggy? Or am I doing something incredibly stupid?

If you set the commands with the headset pluged in and said them through that you may have to do them again without the headset pluged in. You should find in the menu a item that tells you how many voice comands you have set up it will say ?out of 50 the ? being how many you have used.
