My Contacts list refused to work suddenly, throwing up a "not enough memory" error message. I deleted every program I had loaded but it still refused to work. I did a reset (10 seconds on power button) but still the same problem.

The only solution was to do a Master Reset and then Restore a backup and re-sync from an up-to-date Outlook file.

Has anyone else seen this problem? There was clearly plenty of memory available and the Contacts had worked prior to me turning the phone off. It failed to work after I switched the phone on a few hours later. I had not added any data or programs yet suddenly I was unable to run Contacts. All other programs worked.

Any ideas?

Happened to me last weekend and I also did a master reset...

...then I found this message on My-Symbian which seems to provide a solution.

To quote from it:

Quote:

dear all,

i managed to find a quirky way of solving the contacts bloat problem -

1. go to contacts, and find an empty folder. in my case, "personal" was empty.

2. create a new contact - but exit without entering any information.

3. go to "unfiled" folder - the program automatically starts to 'compress' the contacts database, leaving it nicely compact...

hope this works for some of you out there as well.

cheers,
ac
