I'm sorry to say that I really don't think the T9 txting is EVER gonna be as fast as it should be!!!i was just txting and as usual the phone is about 5 damn words behind and I noticed that the flashing green led wasn't flashing but just 'on' it continued flashing after the phone had caught up with me! This leads me to believe that the hardware in this phone is seriously lacking or severely hampered by some of its features!!!

I mean when the 3210 first came out in 98!!! YES it was all of 4 YEARS AGO the txting was a hell of a lot faster than this phone!

This is my first Ericsson, I really used to hate the damn things, and I have to say that I am really disappointed with the flagship product of the 'market leader' in mobile telecommunications!

Any one wanna buy a T68???

LOL This is all true. Even old and cheapest Nokia phones are alot faster than any ericsson. But dont worry t9 typing gets even slower if you're using gprs at the same time. I like this phone but I am seriously thinking of starting to use it as a hammer.

But sometimes, software optimisation can make up for the slow hardware. Like the SL45, before FW49, the opening of the inbox and the messages was really slow, but after FW49, it was noticeably improved.

Yes I hope that this new update improves the speed but ask your self this - if the nokia 3210 from 4 years ago (which I remind you was never meant to be a top of the range business phone{like this}, more of a fashion phone) had the capabilities of extremely fast txting in comparison to this 'state of the art phone' which has had 4 years advantage of 'supposed' improvements, then aren't we paying 'top dollar' to take a step back in technology!?

So the T9 gets slower when GRPS is active!! And the phone also gets slower if the sim card is full with txt messages!!! So has anyone tried writing a message while both of these conditions are met? I'm not gonna try and if somehow I (accidently) do I think you'll be seeing a T68 being sold for next to nothing on Ebay

The fact that the green LED slows down when T9 is behind makes this surely more likely to be a firmware issue rather than the hardware.

Unless of course the hardware doens't have the balls for it, but if the 32* can handle it......

Comparing the 3210's T9 speed to the T68 is like comparing apples to oranges.

The 3210 didn't do basically anything else, so it had the entire CPU at its disposal.

The T68 has much more to do with the CPU at any given moment, and hence it runs slower.

Software optimizations could improve the situation, but considering that Ericsson T9 is also slow on the R520 and T39, this seems unlikely.

It isn't Firmware, it is an overtaxed CPU. It is a design fault, they should have put a faster processor in it.

But give the poor thing some credit, it is doing a lot more than a stinkin' 3210....

Come on use some sense.....

How popular is txt messaging? VERY VERY VERY POPULAR is the answer. so that leads to the following....

in which we will compare writing txts to word processing

You could have a four year old 486 DX-50 that can word process very fast that i could pick up for about a t£nner!
Or you could have the all singing all dancing multimedia pumped Pentium 4 2Ghz that word processes like a damn retarded tortoise which will cost approx £200.

Hmmm now considering that 'word processing' is very popular what would you prefer?

So ok maybe we can forgive Ericsson they decided to concentrate on the phones main feature... CALLS obviously! Well NO both the mic and earphones are sh*t basically.

Now obviously I'm not saying I'd prefer to own a 4 year old heavy and dusty 486 but it puts things in perspective, doesn't it.....
