I am heading back to Florida at the end of april for my holiday again. i was over there last september and was able to use my T39 on Voicestream and one other network (possibly Cingular). Im still waiting for O2 to bring out this phone cos i am halfway through my pre-pay contract for the year and dont want to move yet. Hope to have P800 before i go on holidays. I was wondering if it is possible to send some pics to my work mates while i am in florida just to p1ss them off. has anyone tried this out yet from the above networks. thanks in advance.

Anyone??
Has anybody that used this phone on the above networks tried to send pictures taken by this phone to e-mails. I am sure there are some people in USA have tried this. I wouldnt purchase this phone till after my hols if i knew all it was good for was making calls. I wont be using wap or some of its other features but sending a picture or two back to family and friends while your still on holiday is one way of making them jealous.

I can't comment on Florida, but TMobile in Michigan is capable of MMS, and I have sent pics from my phone to various email addresses.

thanks 4 that. will have to wait till O2 UK get their finger out of their rear end and release this phone. keep hearing the same crap " their doing network testing on it". I would hope that when I get the phone I can set it up to send pics to email on O2 UK and some weekend when im in my parents in southern Ireland I will roam onto vodafone IRL and try to send a pic from that network. if successful then I should have no problem with it on voicestream in the USA cos I could send sms'es to my own service centre back in the UK. all sounds good in theory. have to get the phone first.

@701- Sorry 4 delay in replying. at parents at weekend so i dont surf till night cos i dont want to hog land line and work has cut our internet access during weekdays between 9am-5pm due to many people surfing causing the work website to run rather slow (tight gits should up the bandwith to compensate) so i have a quick surf between 8:30-9am.
Enough of the waffle, i have been with O2 UK (formerly BT Cellnet) since 1997, after first year they offered me an additional year for a one off fee (currently £90 STG 75 free min/month). rather than pay say £13/month i fork out £90 for an additional year. only problem is that i have to pay £50 more to upgrade to a P800 than someone who pays monthly so i still save a bit of money. i renewed the contract in november 2002 for another year cos as we all thought the P800 would be out in october of last year. i could have got another contract with Orange and had the phone over a month ago and let the O2 contract run out but i decided to wait till it comes out on my own network when ever that will be. wont hold my breath though, i hope its worth the wait considering i knew about it this time last year.

@POTOK- i assume like @701 you thought i have a "Pay as you go" mobile where i have to top it up with money. i hope the rather long reply above explains my situation. cant wait to get over to Florida again, hope to back to Datona and go for a 3 lap stint in a Nascar. the idea is to send back a pic of me at this to my work mates while they are still in work. i know they will hate me for it but if they send me an SMS while they are on holiday just think how p1ssed off they will be when i have the technology to send a picture.

@marc- thanks for that, havent setup t39 on gprs. will get to grips with P800 for a while then consider GPRS. M8 i work with went to arizona last summer, rather warm time of year, dont leave your t68i or p800 out in the sun for too long, the screen might get sunstroke. hope to leave a post here when im back from my hols detailing how successful i was with sending pics.

@jamatjam- thought of that already. i could either copy from the duo memeory stick onto pc then email to work. only problem is finding an internet cafe that will let some half wit plug a 6 in 1 memory card reader into their usb port on the pc. i could also do the same with my jvc (gr-dvp5) camcorder but instead of the pic on a memory stick duo its on a SD card. a bit of bother, thats why i would rather do it from the phone cos in theory if i had it setup correctly it should work, i hope.
a simple formula for this problem: time waisted + cost of internet cafe is greater than or equal to joy of taking pic and cost of sending it instantly to workmates.

I'm in Florida and on T-mobile. I've had no problems sending pics to an email from my p800. I did run into some problems downloading pics to the p800 from an email. It would download a percentage and then give an error. I haven't figured this out yet.

@tj2010- thanks for the info. I assume that voicestream was taken over by t-mobile. I saw a number of t-mobile stores while I was over there last. my T39 will still say voicestream eventhough it is probably t-mobile just like I still says btcellnet eventhough it is now O2. have until the 25th of this month to get the phone setup for the hols. if you see some tourist with a P800 franticly trying to sent pics at the end of this month in Florida it will probably be me.
