I heard on the grapevine (actually alt.cellular.ericsson) that vR4A has been released today (March 4th). Can anyone confirm this?

Title: t39m software (and the NO NETWORK glitch)
Author: "Arun K. Karwal"

Confronted with the NO NETWORK problem (my t39m is 01W37 and R2K) I got my
phone flashed to R3B006 this afternoon. Sure enough, the first couple of
hours it seemed that the network was holding steady at 4 or 5 bars again,
something I hadn't seen for a while. But I got too exited too early. Less
frequent, but still 'No Network' pops up on the screen now and then. So I
assume a simple software update does not do the trick for the full 100%.
Furthermore, the guy at the service point sort of told me he expected new
software for the t39m to be released today (March 4th) and was curious to
see if my machine was already updated to R4A (it was not).

Bjorne, may i ask on what authority you have this information?
Also, is there any word on what R4A will fix/include if it's released? |

@Phrak, Bjorne68 claims to work for (or was it ericsson only). His previous posts (if you wish to look at it) would reveal that he does provide information nobody else could provide.
Anyway, it's always safe not to take answers at face value.
He had helped me some info I needed before. |

It would be nice to know exactly *what* the changes are in the new versions. Sometimes, a software upgrade may concern a part of the system that you never use, and in such case, upgrading the phone might introduce new bugs in the parts of the software that you do use. |

I can confirm R4A for the T39
I got it from the manager over at Ericsson Canada. I am good friends with him. there is no difference in the phone's features, but it does hold onto the signal a little better. |

May not be any difference in menu. Should be improvements in GPRS function.

Hi there,
I also have a t39m (for more than 1 year yet). So Esato is well known to me of course
Now I have the same problem with my t39: No Network. This happened after I accidentally dropped my phone on the ground.
According to the stories I've heard, this is the fault of a weakness on the main "PCB" of the phone, and to repair this is a costly thing.
In this forum I read things as flashing the phone to solve this??? This sound very unlikely to me, since the phone is physical damaged.
So, do I have a chance my t39 lives again after flashing it or am I dreaming? My SW version is R2K.
In the mean while my good old (but also very buggy) t18 supports me
Thx, Eric |

Sorry, no idea on the fault you got. Why not bring it to service point? Or find help from other threads, coz this one thread belongs rumour topic. :-) .Good luck!
