That kind of cool beepers they have in "all" american music videos, which has something who looks like a little qwerty-keypad, do they work like some kind of SMS-devices? Do you need some sort of infrastructure to use them and is a subscription or registration in some way needed? Does the messages costs anything to send or is it more like a walkie-talkie?

In other words, how do they work and why don't we have those in Europe?

Its a \"2 way\" pager. Just like texting as far as i know. I also wondered if you can get them in the uk

check out motorola website for United states, its like the V100. text only no calls since i think they still use analog lines there...

l know Tmobile US has them and they are only GSM network

i believe you can make calls on them as well. you can buy a headphone accesory that, i believe, allows you to make a phone call.
